You glanced at the time on your personal laptop, watching as the digits struck 2 PM. Swiftly closing it, you stretched your shoulders and arms, signaling the end of your shift managing the quaint store alongside Soo. Tucking your laptop back into your bag resting against the countertop, you bid farewell to the afternoon shift workers setting up behind the counter. Soo followed you to the back of the building, the old wooden floors shifting beneath you and creaking lightly with each step.
Pushing through the door labeled "Employees Only," you and Soo quickly changed into your regular attire. "How are you feeling?" she suddenly asked, facing the poorly magnetized mirror on her ugly green locker while swiftly applying lip gloss, popping her lips once, twice, and a final third time.
"About what?" You turned, tightening your hair scarf and fluffing your hair.
"About tonight, your application to JYPE and its result will be announced," she reminded you.
Right, you had almost forgotten amidst the day's rush. You shrugged. "I'm terrified, to be honest."
Soo-Yun threw her purse over her shoulder, letting her hair fall over her shoulders as she walked over to pat your back. "I wish I could accompany you tonight, whether to drink and celebrate or drink and cry!"
You scoffed, "Wow, missing my big reveal tonight? Why's that?"
Her cheeks flushed slightly pink. "I have a date tonight."
"Do I want to ask?" You tilted your head.
"Mmm... No, don't ask!" She giggled, and all you could do was shrug in mock disapproval. "Whatever, just stay safe and don't come crying to me if this one fails too, babes." She smacked your arm playfully.
Suddenly, a ding sounded from her bag. She swiftly pulled out her phone, a beaming smile spreading from ear to ear. "Sorry, girl, gotta go now. He's here!" She dashed out the door, the sound of her slightly heeled shoes echoing down the wooden floors.
You scoffed, finishing up changing and leaving just a few minutes after her.

As the sun blazed bright in the sky, casting a bright warm and golden hue over the city buildings, and all over your face, you stepped out of Auroras. The day had been long but fulfilling, the hustle and bustle of customers seeking inspiration and supplies for their creative endeavors filled your heart with contempt. You adjusted the strap of the bag on your shoulder, breathing in the soft and warm breeze. The familiar sights of Seoul's sights and sounds greet you—cars honking, motorcycles zooming past one another, street vendors filling the warm air with its delicious foods, pedestrians chatting as they pass, and the occasional buskin groups strumming their tunes and moves.
As you walked down the sidewalk, thoughts of lunch plans with yourself danced around in your mind. Reaching into your pocket to check your phone for any updates on restaurants, only to realize with a sinking feeling that it wasn't there.
"Oh no," You muttered under your breath, patting your pockets frantically. "I left it inside."
You turned on your heels and hurried back towards Aurora. The bell above the door chimed softly as you pushed it open again, the warmth of the store enveloping you like a familiar embrace.
Inside, the store was quieter now, with only a few staff members lingering to tidy up back in the storage room. You, swiftly making your way to the employee room at the back, where you had hastily changed out of work clothes earlier.
The room was dimly lit, the lockers casting long shadows on the walls. You spotted your phone lying on the dark oak benches besides the lockers, the feeling of relief washing over you as you sighed.
"Phew," You breathed out, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "Found you."
Just as you were about to leave, a soft voice echoed from the hallway outside the room.
"Excuse me, do you know where I can find brushes and paints?" asked a hesitant voice.
You froze, recognizing the voice but unable to place it immediately. Curiosity piqued, and you peered through the crack of the door.
There stood a young man, dressed casually with a cap pulled low over his eyes. He seemed slightly out of place in the artistic environment, yet there was something earnest and genuine in his expression.
"Oh, um... yeah," You replied, stepping out into the hallway. "Brushes and paints are right this way."
You led him back into the main store area, where you helped him pick out the supplies he needed. You exchanged a few words, questioning whether it's for him, or a friend. Along with the type of experience they have in art and what not while guiding him through the aisles, her curiosity grows with each passing moment.
"Thank you so much," the young man said gratefully, clutching his chosen items. "I really appreciate your help."
You smiled warmly. "No problem at all. Glad I could assist."
You lead him quietly back to the front. Letting him check out his items and making sure all is good.
With that, he walked out of Aurora, leaving You standing there, your mind buzzing with questions and a newfound intrigue.
Leaving the building once more. Outside, the city flickered with activity as the evening settled in. You took a deep breath, your heart lighter with the promise of unexpected encounters and the simple joy of helping someone find their creative spark once again.
You glanced at your phone, now safely back in your hand, and chuckled softly to yourself. Sometimes, forgetting something important could lead to discovering something even more meaningful. With a final glance back at Aurora, you turned and headed towards your evening plans, eager to try a dish to fill the newfound hunger that's slowly engulfing her stomach.
And somewhere out there, under the same city sky, the young man walked on, his thoughts drifting back to the kind-hearted girl who had unknowingly brightened his day.
After a satisfying lunch, you found yourself lingering at the restaurant, nursing a cup of coffee as you replayed the events of the day in your mind. The bustling chatter of other diners provided a comforting backdrop to your thoughts, though your mind kept drifting back to the looming decision from JYPE.
You pulled out your phone again, checking for any updates or messages. Nothing yet. The minutes ticked by slowly, each one adding to your growing eagerness. Would tonight mark a turning point in your career? The possibility both thrilled and unnerved you.
Outside, the city continued its lively rhythm. People passed by, immersed in their own lives, unaware of the internal turmoil you were experiencing. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your nerves.
As the afternoon progressed into early evening, you decided to take a walk to clear your head. The cool breeze brushed against your face, carrying with it the scent of street food and the distant sound of music. You found yourself drawn to a small park nearby, where you sat on a bench, watching as the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow over the city skyline.
With each passing moment, your anticipation grew. The decision from JYPE would soon arrive, bringing with it the potential to fulfill your dreams or redirect your path. You closed your eyes briefly, visualizing the possibilities and preparing yourself for whatever the evening would bring.
