The next day, whispers and murmurs filled the halls of the castle as rumors of the dance between Atticus and Elise spread like wildfire. The incident had caused quite a stir among the courtly elite, and everyone was buzzing with gossip about the unlikely pair.

Elise sat in her chambers, trying to read a book to distract herself from the thoughts swirling in her head. But her mind kept wandering back to the dance, her heart still racing at the memory of being held closely by Atticus.

Despite her best efforts to push him from her mind, she couldn't shake the memory of his strong arms around her, the intensity of his gaze, and the way her body had reacted to his touch. It was foolish, she knew, but she found herself constantly thinking about him, replaying the dance in her mind over and over again.

As she sat there, lost in her thoughts, there was a knock on her door, interrupting her reverie.

"Your Highness?" came the voice from the other side of the door. It was her lady-in-waiting, a sweet young woman named Lila.

"May I enter?" she asked, her voice soft and polite.

"Of course," Elise called out, setting her book aside and beckoning Lila to enter.

The young woman opened the door and entered the room, carrying a tray of tea and biscuits. She set the tray on a small table near the window and curtsied before speaking.

"You have a visitor, Your Highness," she said, an amused smile playing on her lips.

Elise raised an eyebrow at Lila's expression, her heartbeat quickening as she wondered who the visitor could be. "Who is it?" she asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

Lila's smile widened, clearly enjoying the situation. "It's the young Lord Atticus, Your Highness," she replied, her voice dripping with implication.

"Lord Atticus, here?" Elise exclaimed, unable to hide her surprise.

Lila chuckled softly. "Yes, Your Highness. He's waiting in the sitting room."

Elise paused for a moment, wondering how Atticus had managed to gain entry into the castle without raising suspicion. Normally, tensions between their kingdoms were high, and it was unusual for someone from Ravenwood to visit openly.

Taking a deep breath, she stood up and smoothed out her dress. "Very well," she said, trying to appear composed. "Lead me to him."

Lila led Elise through the winding corridors of the castle, her footsteps echoing through the halls. As they approached the sitting room, Elise's heart pounded faster in her chest, a mixture of anticipation and nervousness coursing through her.

Finally, they reached the door to the sitting room. Lila knocked softly, and a moment later, the door opened, revealing Atticus standing in the doorway. He smiled as he saw her, his gaze taking in her flushed cheeks and slightly disheveled hair.

"Your Highness," Atticus said, his voice low and smooth. "You look beautiful."

Elise felt her cheeks flush even more at his words, and she looked away for a moment, trying to regain her composure. "Lord Atticus," she replied, her tone slightly shaky. "I'm surprised to see you here. How did my mother and father let you in despite our kingdoms at war."

Atticus chuckled at her question, clearly finding her flustered demeanor amusing. "Let's just say I have my ways," he said with a playful wink. "I was able to persuade them that my visit was for...diplomatic reasons."

Elise raised an eyebrow at his words, suspecting there was more to his visit than he was letting on. "Diplomatic reasons?" she repeated, her tone skeptical.
