I sat backstage hearing Pastor Petty preach to the large crowd. To be so uptight people seemed to love this man. Listening to his preaching he wasn't half bad considering I hated most churches. Pastors could be so hypocritical which is how Mr.Petty is but, I couldn't deny his gift.

"You ready? The mic is on and they're ready for you", I look down at my gown hating how it fit.

"Im ready", I hear the choir beginning to sing so I walk out to the center stage.

I look into the crowd seeing hundreds of people. I began regretting volunteering to sing today. I'd never sang in front of this many people, especially people who hated my lifestyle. I look to Onika who was the choir director and my nerves cooled. Her smile alone gave me confidence.

The choir continued singing until it was time for my solo. I gave my best vocals as I blew the crowd away.

At the end of the performance my parents along with everyone in the church stood up and cheered me on including my dad. I smile nervously since I felt appreciated.

After the service ended many members of the church greeted me and told me how well I did today. The church people weren't so bad, they didn't even seem judgmental.

My mom and dad wanted to see me before taking off after the service. I was walking to their car when I was stopped by Mr.Petty and Nicki. I smile seeing her with a pretty smile on her face.

"Beyoncé you did a fantastic job here today, the lord would be proud", he compliments me.

"Thank you sir, I appreciate that", I say trying my best not to admire his wife. "You have an amazing voice Beyoncé. Kenneth and I wanted to know if you'd be willing to sing again for the next service", she says as he grabs her hand. Ew.

"It'll of course count towards your treatment. I'm sure your father would love the idea of that", I say looking back at him and my mom with big smiles on their faces as they looked over at me waving. "Yea...I could sing next Sunday. Only if Nicki continues to coach me", I bargain with him.

"Sounds good to me. I'll see you next time", he shakes my hand. "Baby I'll see you tonight", he kissed her cheek.

For me to be the "child" he sure didn't have a clue of anything around him. If he did he'd know she likes to be kissed on the forehead, not a boring ass cheek kiss.

"You did so good Beyonce. I'm so proud of you!", she smiled inching closer to me. "Thank you Nicki. Could you tell I was nervous?", I ask hoping she couldn't.

"Just a little but that's normal for your first time. Your voice is so beautiful, I didn't know you were that good", she playfully hits my shoulder.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it", I say as my parents walked up behind us.

"Hi Mr and Mrs. Knowles. It was a treat seeing your faces in the crowd this morning", she hugs them both.

"It was nice seeing you in action after so long. Beyoncé's never sang in front of anyway so she must really like you", my mom said causing me to nervously laugh looking away from Onika.

"It's true we hardly can get her to sing ourselves", my dad laughs.

"She's really coming along good here. Ken and the church members think so too", Nicki brags on me.

"I'm definitely seeing the changes. I'm proud of you kiddo", my dad says causing me to smile uncontrollably. Those words alone gave me a happy high.

"Thanks dad, and thank you two for coming. I love you both", I hugged my mom and quickly hugged my dad.
