It has been quite a long time since both of them first spoke about wanting to get a child together, and Dream was more than understanding and supportive of George wanting to act like and be a mother.
He did his research, their house was prepared with a vacant room for a little one, and now they both found themselves in front of the center, ready to start a small family.
Since money was never a problem to them, why not spend it on all of this?
"Are you ready?" Dream found his hand squeezing George's, sending him a sweet smile.
"Yeah," George answered, pulling Dream to him, as they entered the building.
His expectations were dropped down a bit low, when he noticed how the outside was different from the inside.
The interior looked great, just like any normal building, but the inside seemed like it was a very old one. It didn't look like the kind of adoption center he anticipated. Nonetheless, he kept his hopes up.
Dream peered at the surroundings, observing the atmosphere, as well as George. Until they heard someone call for them from behind the front desk, a hint of nuisance, "Looking for someone, gentlemen?"
George turned around, still holding onto Dream's hand, while he went to go and moved towards her "Hi, yes- uh, we're actually here to adopt a child,"
The woman looked at him and tried to hide her snort, "Out of all the centers you and your boyfriend could've went to, you chose to go here? Good luck, we have one girl left in there, but I guarantee she's just going to be returned back here in a few weeks, 1 month tops." she conveyed, pointing to a room behind her.
Dream and George were silent from her response. They gave each other a troubled look, before Dream gave an answer back, "Can we still meet her?"
She scoffed at them, ahead of standing up from her swivel chair, "Follow me."
They both trailed behind her, until she stopped at the room she was referring to seconds prior. She opened the door, and let the them step in.
Dream didn't expect to see just one girl alone in the room, secluding herself far away in a corner, just like the woman had said.
"I'll be outside," she spoke, leaving through the doorframe, before one of them could let a word out.
George then felt of wanting to come close to the girl, so he let go of Dream's hand and slowly approached to her.
He saw the little girl curled up in a ball, her legs folded close to her chest. Her body was tucked into itself, forming a protective shell as she sought comfort and solace in her own embrace.
When Clare felt sudden footsteps nearing her, she lifted her face up to see two men in the room with her.
This was new.
"Hi," George whispered softly, until he was basically in front of her, "I'm George, this is my husband, Dream, and we wanted to meet you,"
Clare's eyes went to his side to see the other man standing there, assumably Dream, who shyly waved at her.
She could only wave back, feeling timid when the two of them are now her only view.
Complete silence.
Dream was the one who first broke it by uttering, taking in all her facial features, "Your eyes are really pretty, by the way,"
They both smiled at her, and Clare could only look back down. Weird. No one had ever complimented her for her eyes.
George felt another sense of awkwardness between them, so he spoke, "Um, would you like to come home with us? So, you wouldn't be alone here?"
His other hand was behind his back, and Dream was the one holding it with encouragement.
