The next morning, I woke up with a renewed sense of excitement. The initial nerves of my first day had settled into a determination to make the most of my time in Tokyo.
I got ready quickly, eager to dive back into the rhythm of my new life. As I headed downstairs, the familiar scents of breakfast greeted me. My mother was bustling around the kitchen, and my father sat at the table reading the newspaper.
"Good morning." I said, taking a seat. smelling the food on the table. "Morning, my precious," my Mother replied, glancing up with a smile. "Ready for another day?"
I nodded. "Definitely. Yesterday went amazing, which I hadn't really imaged.. I feel like I'm starting to find my place here."
My mother placed a plate of Tamagoyaki in front of me. "That's wonderful to hear. Just remember, it's okay to take things one step at a time." She said the same thing as Watanabe.
"Tamagoyaki sure does taste nice," my mouth couldn't help but take a bite already. "and tasty of course!" My Mom giggled.
I stopped chewing my food and recalled what happened yesterday, "Mother, I forgot to tell you, Watanabe is at the school I go to!"
My mother smirked at me.
"So that's why you were so joyful when you came home yesterday, happy to hang out with your crush again?" Those words hit me, I did have a crush on him before.
Letting out an awkward laugh, "That's funny Mom, I don't have a crush on him anymore!" She acted as if she knew I still had a crush on him. "Rightttt, honey." This is making my face a mess. "Mom, seriously?" I groaned.
Soon, it was time to head to school. I made my way to the train station, my anticipation building with each step. The city was already bustling with activity, and I felt a growing sense of belonging as I navigated the crowded streets.
At school, I was greeted with friendly smiles and nods from my classmates. Yumi waved enthusiastically from across the room, and I made my way over to her.
"Good morning, Hayashi-san!" she said cheerfully. "How was your day yesterday?" I'm really glad I made a new friend,
"It went well," I replied. "Watanabe-kun showed me around and took me to this amazing café. It was a perfect way to unwind after the first day." Oh crap, I forgot she doesn't know about my friendship with him.
Seeing her face, I felt a bit awkward. "Are you in a relationsh-" I quickly covered her mouth with my weak, small hands. "Don't even think about that, we're.. friends who just got reunited after 3 long years! haha.." I then let go of my hands so her mouth isn't covered anymore.
Sato's eyes sparkled with interest. "That sounds lovely! Watanabe-kun's really nice, isn't he? He has a knack for making people feel welcome." Yeah, he does.
