TW: angst at end 😱 everything else is fluff tho 👍👍

I quietly tapped my pencil against the wooden desk I sat at. A stack of homework laid upon me. "Tyler, how do you expect to do this all tonight so you don't fail?"

I asked him, glancing at him concern. Tyler's head faced the other direction, clearly embarrassed about the whole situation. He sighed, "Yeah that's my fault.."

He admitted, "But I really need this so I don't fail." He replied stubborningly. I glared at him and groaned. The pile of homework sat there on my desk, waiting to be done. I looked back at the homework, and then at Tyler. I really can't say no to him, can I?

"Fine.." I said finally giving in. His eyes gleamed for a split second and he almost immediately stood up and sat beside me. He grabbed a pencil from my drawer and looked at me with anticipation.

He looked like a puppy wanting for its kibble. How adorable, I thought to myself. I laughed softly before grabbing the first sheet of paper and starting to work on it. Tyler did the same, his eyes darted too each answer choice and the questions. He looked utterly confused.

"Ty.. we're never gonna finish if you don't understand how to solve it.." I said, leaning down too his paper too look at the first question. "Hey I know how to do this! See, watch this." He yelled, looking at the question again. I laughed lightly. "Yeah, go for it.." I replied watching him struggle.

He looked so focused it actually looked funny. "Tyler, here let me show you." I said, glancing at the question. "Here's an easy one, if this is a acute angle that measures 45 degrees, and this is a 90 degree angle, what properties about this triangle are true?" I said, reading the question aloud and asking him what the answer is. "Its a.. right scalene triangle?"

He answered looking at me with hope. "Yeah it is." I smiled softly and checked off the answer on his sheet. "See? Not that hard." I told him, but what I didn't tell him was that it was the easiest question on the sheet. I gently patted his hair and started to work on the next problem.

I was then interrupted by a few kisses on the cheek. My face flushed. I laughed. "H-hey! Stop that!" I said giggling. A few kisses turned into a couple kisses, and a couple kisses turned into a barrage of kisses. He kissed all around my cheek by the time he was finished. My glasses were crookied and my face was pink. "Tyler!" I whined, "You got me distracted! We could've finished a sheet by now!" I said scolding him, but overall I did like the shower of affection. "My bad, my bad." He said smirking.

I looked back at the piles of worksheets  in front of us, I then glanced at the clock, it was around 7 PM. I groaned, "Ty.. we most definitely are going to spend hours finishing this.."

And so we went, working endlessly just so Tyler wouldn't fail. Math, science, social studies, biology, somehow he literally had everything. It was like he was collecting them. What was this? The final boss? My hands cramped from writing, but overall we did finish. I felt a surge of relief that everything was done, maybe Tyler wouldn't fail after all. I stretched my back and yawned, ah I'm so tired..

I then felt a blanket being draped over me. I looked over and I saw Tyler. "Ty..?" I said drowsy. "You look tired, you should rest."

"I could say the same for you.." I said with a soft smile. The sky was already dark, like ink spreading across the sky. It was getting close to 12, it's funny how nice moments like these could change as rapidly as a sea tide washing away sand on the shore. The phantom world might ruin a lot of things, but on the contrary it couldn't damage moments like these.

Dark late nights, stars painted across a vast canvas for everybody to see. And all we did was just look at each other lovingly, admiring, taking in the attraction of both partners. I laugh quietly, starting to close my eyes. "I hope one day we'll both be out of this, together..." I said, slowly drifting to sleep. "Me too, nerd." He said smirking, pulling the blanket on me more. I smiled and lulled into sleep. Maybe one day Phantoms won't haunt us, one day.

I sat on the chair in the way corner of the hospital room. It wasn't a comfortable chair to say the least, but it didn't matter in my mind. Tears welled up threatening the corners of my eyes. I slowly sat up and stared at Tyler, sleeping so peacefully on the hospital bed. But was it sleeping? What if he doesn't wake up one day? What if that day is today? My mind passed along these thoughts. Looking at Tyler. One day, one day I said. Maybe one day we could get out of this mess. I slipped my fingers into his, holding his hand gently.

"I hope you'll be okay." I whispered softly. This feeling is bittersweet. It's like mixing flavorless tea into caramel. My grip slightly tightened on his hand. "I'm just glad your alive." I admitted quietly. I stared out the plain hospital window. It was already dark. Different black hues coated the sky with stars glazing on top. Trees danced in the wind with their leaves rustling like a rattlesnake. The moon hung wearily, gazing down upon us. My eyes drifted back to Tyler as a machine tracked his heart rate.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

The machine whirred. "I guess life is just unfair sometimes, right Tyler?" I muttered.

No response. He looked so peaceful, just laying there,

But I'm not.

My bad guys my bad 😔
