Risk and Reward: Lily's Summer Gamble

Lily Wants Money

Lily doesn't want to work a job this summer. She just has a long junior year of high school and just wants to kick back and take in the summer heat. On the last day of school, she was going through her emails in English class when saw a peculiar email in her junk box. The email read:

Do you want a lot of money? Are you a kindhearted person? Well then you would be perfect for one of our medical trials! Help test run one or more experiments and earn cash in return. Come dressed in easy to take on and off athletic wear. Bring your ID. Third floor room 348. Call 598 38493 9384993 to schedule an appointment.

Address: 9992 BLbIn Avenue.

Lily thought, "Wow, that would be so much easier than working a job! What a great opportunity!"

After school that day she went straight to her room and dialed the number.

Operator: "Hello, Trials for Cash how can I help you today?"

Lily, "Hello ma'am! I would like to schedule an appointment for one of your trials for money! What kind of trials do you have, how many of them can I do, and how much money do you give for them?"

Operator: "First can I ask a few questions so I can answer those questions for you?"

Lily, "Yes."

Operator, "great, how old are you, what is your height and weight, do you drink enough water, do you eat a healthy amount of food that is healthy, and do you exercise often?"

Lily, "I am 16 years old, 5'3 110 lbs. I drink a lot of water and eat a lot of healthy foods because I play basketball for my high school."

Operator, "That is great to hear Lily! You sound like a healthy young lady! Unfortunately because you are a minor you will need a parents approval to undergo these trials so I don't think I can help you today. But if you call back in two years we would be more than happy to take you!"

Lily, "Wait, hold on, don't hang up yet. Let me get my mom on the phone! Give me about three minutes, she's outside doing something right now." (Lily then mutes the phone and calls one of her friends Tania on her computer.)

Tania, "Hey Lily, what's up?"

Lily explains the situation she is into Tania and that she needs her parents' approval and asks Tania to act like her mom over the call. Lily then hooks her phone up with her computer so there is no echoing, and the conversation sounds genuine.

Lily unmutes, "Hello, I'm back with my mom now."

Operator, "Hello ma'am, I would like to tell you what side effects your daughter may face for possible trials and the cash you would receive in return."

Tania puts on a deeper womanly voice, "that would be lovely! Our little Lily here loved to play doctor when she was little and even wants to become a nurse soon after college!"

Operator, "That's very nice. Please give me your number mom so that I can send a pdf to you of the experiments, possible side effects, and the cash in return. Tania then says her number.

Operator, "great, I'll send that right over to you. Once you've looked at it check off the boxes for the experiments you would like to take part of and sign your name at the bottom for your daughter. Good day now !)

Tania receives the pdf. and sends it over to Lily wants the operator hung up.
