I sit anxiously in the hospital, my heart racing with every passing moment. I'm consumed by a sense of desperation, pleading with a higher power not to take away the person I hold dearest. My grandmother, my guiding light, my comfort zone, and my happiness, has been my rock since childhood.

She's more than just a grandmother to me; she's my best friend, my confidante, and my secret keeper. Whenever I stumbled, she was there to offer a helping hand, to guide me, and to support me. She'd often shield me from my parents' wrath, covering up for my mistakes and protecting me from harm.

Now, at 75 years old, she's battling high blood pressure and depression, a constant reminder of the pain she endured when my grandfather passed away seven years ago. The thought of losing her is unbearable, especially for me, as a doctor, who witnesses the fragility of life every day.

I'm torn between my professional composure and my personal fears. As a doctor, I've grown accustomed to the harsh realities of life and death, but the prospect of losing my grandmother is a daunting one. When my brother called me with the news, time seemed to stand still.

_Flashback Starts_

"Ada beta, what happened?" Ma asked me, concern etched on her face. Tears continuously fell from my eyes. I felt numb. I wanted to run away from there and go to my granny, but I couldn't move my legs.

"Nandini, what happened to Ada beta, is she okay?" Papa asked.

"My granny," I stuttered at last.

"What happened to her, Ada beta, is she okay?" Papa asked again.

"No, she's admitted to the hospital. She had a heart attack. I have to go," I said and stood up.

"Wait, beta, we are also coming with you," Chachu said.

I nodded and went outside. I sat in the car and drove like a mad person. I reached the hospital and ran inside. My family was standing outside the hospital room.

"Where is granny?" I asked Bhai.

"Ada calm down, she's okay now," Bhai said.

I took a sigh of relief. I looked at my family and saw the worry in their eyes. I felt a pang of guilt for not being able to control my emotions.

_Flashback Ends_

Nandini tried to comfort me, "Bhabhi, don't worry, nothing will happen to your grandmother." I hugged her tightly, still sobbing. "Nandini, I just can't afford to lose her," I said, my voice shaking.

Nandini tried to calm me down, "Shhh, Bhabhi, please don't cry." My brother, Bhai, also chimed in, "Princess, she's okay now, stop crying." My younger sister, Riya, added, "Yes, she won't like to see you crying, Di."
