"I have to move..."
Those were the last words you expected to hear, especially from someone who has been a part of your life since childhood.
"I have to move to my birthplace."
Laura Haeun Jang has been your best friend for ten years. After she moved from Korea, you became friends, and she became your neighbor.
You: Y-You're joking, right?
Laura stayed silent, giving you her answer.
You: W-What about your friends, college, and me?
Your best friend didn't hear the last part.
Laura: I already told them about my move, and they understand-
You: But I don't! We've been best friends for ten years, and you're just going to leave me like that?!

Beep... beep...
LR Mom: Haeun-ah, pali pali! We have to get to the airport.
Laura: Eomma, jamkkanman!
She turns back to you.
Laura: Look, I have to go. I promise to call and text!
She was about to walk away until you grabbed her hand.
You: Laura, wait.
Laura: Hm?
You: I-I'll miss you.
Laura unexpectedly pulls you towards her, wrapping her arms around your neck.
Laura: I'll miss you too. I promise to visit.
LR Dad: Laura Haeun Jang, we got to go! You can call your girlfriend when we get to Korea.
You spot red on her cheek.
Laura: FOR THE NTH TIME, SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!
She turns to you.
Laura: If I had a dollar for every time my parents referred to you as my girlfriend over the years, I'd be rich.
You laugh.
Laura: This is it. I'll call you as soon as I land.
You kiss her on the cheeks.
You: Have a safe flight, Laura Haeun Jang.
Laura: I will, Lexus Vang.
You watch as she slips away from you, getting on a shuttle to the airport and leaving behind her life.
