The Bells were having dinner. "Oh yeah! And then he fell off The stairs." Allan recalled a funny incident from his work, Which led to a burst of laughter from the others.
After coming Back from the Harbors, the Bells had gone straight to their house. Vena had helped Allan get settled in while Taurus and Libra closed the bakery. Taurus had been restless ever since Libra had told her about the certificate. Vena would never tell them about her past. Hell, they didn't even know what was her hometown Before marriage. And when she asked her, Vena always told Taurus, "O-oh, Oracule." But clearly that wasn't true.
Taurus was icking to ask her mother about this, but she didn't want to ruin the atmosphere of reunion with their father. She could tell Libra was too. Taurus was a light sleeper and she could hear the groans and shuffling noises made by her insomniac brother at night. Afterall, the wall between their rooms were thin. Usually he would get 3-4 hours of sleep but The eye bags under his eyes suggested he barely had any sleep.
Vena and Allan were in their room. As he had told the family, Allan had gotten a leave for two weeks from work. And Vena was overjoyed.
But the two of them couldn't wait for their dad to go so that they could bombard their mom with questions. Taurus couldn't wait that long. That man had only been invading her dreams more often. Sometimes it would another flashback from his life in Mirac, and sometimes, when she would have a normal dream, Taurus could spot him just standing there and looking at her. She was contemplating hitting him with a pan when she saw him next, seeing a weird crazed man in a captain suit calling you child or a key wasn't necessarily fun.
Allan was soon finished with his food and spotting Vena's empty dish, he took it and went to the sink to wash them. Vena sighed and gave in without a word, knowing that he wouldn't listen. Though Taurus loved their bond and would die rather than spoiling it, some things were meant to be said.
She locked eyes with Libra, who was staring off into god knows what. She clicked her fingers, bringing Libra back to his senses, who raised his eyebrows at her in question. In reply, she blinked once slowly and he got what she meant to say. He shook his head in no. But was Taurus one to listen to his insomniac ass? Nope.
"Hey mum." She said abruptly, making her mother blink once to register this in. "Yeah?" She asked.
"Where did you say you were from?" Taurus asked, putting in fake curiosity.
Vena looked at her in surprise before stuttering a bit and replying. "O-oh, I'm From Oracule."
Taurus arched her eye brow, "You sure?" Vena was confused but nodded.
Allan now finally said, "Taurus, why are you asking your mom this?" Libra grabbed her hand in order to tell her to shut her mouth but She shook it off.
"And what was your maiden name again?" Taurus asked and Allan answered for Vena, "Starkov. Taurus why are you asking all of this?"
Taurus finally answered her father, "Because I and Libra," she glanced at Libra who was glaring daggers at her, "discovered something that say otherwise."
Vena's eyes widened for second before she restored her demeanor. "Yes, it might have been an older record, my older records have my name as Vena Reynolds. My father didn't leave us when I was a toddler."
Well at least she accepted it. Taurus thought.
But clearly Vena wasn't spilling everything. Allan kept his hand on her shoulder and looked at her reassuringly, Which made Taurus ask questions again.
"Okay but why does a certain certificate of yours says that you are from Mirac?" Vena's movements stopped all together as her widened eyes slowly met Taurus's. Allan was just as stunned. Libra looked like he wanted to beat Taurus to a pulp.
"W-what?" Vena whispered almost inaudibly like Taurus did something forbidden and now must be hanged. Allan tightened his grip on Vena's shoulder and asked Taurus on her behalf, "Taurus, do you really think your mother would lie to you? And especially your Gran Gran, whom you love dearly?" Gran Gran, their maternal grandmother, too told them that they were from Oracule with the last name Starkov.
"What if She was lying too?" Taurus asked and Libra finally spoke, gritting his teeth and glaring at her, "Taurus, I swear to god shut up!" "No, having no sleep doesn't affect you but it does affect me!" She countered while she got up. Allan looked puzzled and asked, "What are you two going about?" Vena was still.
Taurus walked over to her mother while Libra still glared at her and sat on her knees to meet her eyes, "Mom, when you asked Libra to bring Dad's letter, he saw a framed certificate of a debate entitled to you, Vena Reynolds Of Mirac. Mom, have you been lying to us all this time?" Vena's eyes were still widened, with tears slowly building up. Taurus noticed this and grabbed her hands, "Mom, please don't cry."
Allan got on one knee and hugged her. "Honey, it's alright. They need to know." He rubbed her back and kissed her forehead. Vena sniffled and quickly said, "Right." Allan leg go of her and motioned for Taurus to let go, getting up.
Taurus too got up and sat on a chair right beside her.
Vena sniffled yet again and began, "My birth name is Vena Reynolds and I am from Mirac. I don't know why that was important for you to know." And yet Taurus could tell She was holding it back. Before She could say anything, Allan rubbed his hand on her shoulder reassuringly.
Libra decided to speak next, "No mom, we get that you don't think that was important, but it's about something related to your last name and hometown. Actually someone." Vena was shook yet again at that, Taurus was sure their mother knew something.
"This might sound hilarious but we, mainly Taurus, have been getting these visions of a man and a woman. Taurus has only seen the woman a few times but the man keeps coming back to her constantly. And from what we know, the man's name is Agnar Reynolds." Libra added. "The woman was named Maia Reynolds and the two had a daughter, that we don't know about clearly. Sounds familiar?" He concluded. Yeah, he put it way better than Taurus would've.
The tears That she held back were threatening to resurface. "V-visions? A-agnar? " Taurus nodded, "The man gives nice yet creepy vibes. He always seems helpless yet crazed." Then she added further, "Wait, you don't think we are kidding right?" Allan shook his head, "Of course not, We believe you."
Vena rambled, "I-I don't understand why you would get visions of him. I thought he was dead. W-we all thought he was dead. Then why?" Libra asked in concern, "You- you know this man?" Vena nodded vigorously, "I do! Of course I do!" Allan stood by her, caressing her reassuringly now and Then.
A single tear drop escaped Vena's eyes. "I am that little daughter. Agnar and Maia Reynolds are my parents! Your Gran Gran's name is Maia. And my dad's story is considered as a tale of misfortune, madness and what lies beyond our beliefs, magic."
