♡Inayah's pov♡
I feel chills down my spine as I feel the same stare again, Feeling a knot forming in my stomach, as I hurriedly walk out of the college's front gate.
For several days, I've been feeling as if someone is watching me. From the same car parked down near, practically everywhere I go. To the figure I always catch trying to blend with the shadows of the trees. I tried to be cautious and stay aware, but always dismissed the idea of being stalked. Like why would someone stalk me? Me?
Particularly this evening as I was walking down the road, to a library nearby I felt someone walking behind me. I tried to ignore him, tried. But he was just so determined. I tried to be a little cooperative thinking maybe they are just...coincidences but it's too much now. And I need answers.
I suddenly stop, turning to look at him. Telling him that he's not very particularly sly about his...stalking.
"Dhruv?" I say crossing my arms. "Would you please do the honors and tell me that why have you been stalking me from the past two days?"
Just like a deer caught in headlights, he freezes up in his spot. At first he tried to play it cool, pretending that I don't exist and he doesn't see me here.
His usually relaxed demeanor has vanished now, replaced by a rigid posture that speaks volumes of his anxiety probably realising that i've caught him. Beads of sweat form on his forehead, reflecting the harsh light above, and his hands instinctively clench at his sides, the knuckles turning white. He shifts his weight from one foot to the other.
"Soo??"
"I... I wasn't... I mean, I was just... I didn't mean to-" his throat tightens, as he stumbles over his words trying to formulate a coherent response.
"Dhruv, just tell me the reason. What do you think you're doing?" I say, feeling mixed emotions of anger and concern blinding my mind. "Wait- let me guess, it has something to do with Arhaan right?"
His expression tighten, eyes widening ever so slightly,proving my point.
Dhruv's shoulders slump, as if the weight of guilt pressing down on him. He knows he's trapped, and the panic is evident in his eyes. As he finally steels himself to speak.
"Y-yeah, its about bhai. He... hetoldmetowatchoutforyou. He said it was for your safety.....andmade me promise I'd keep an eye on you." He hurries of with his words, saying incoherent sentences in one breath.
"First of all calm down, and would you.....elaborate on that." I point out.
Dhruv calms down before answering again.
"Ugh, Arhaan bhai will kill me for saying this to you but I guess you'd kill me first if I didn't." He mumbles out to himself, before continuing. "When bhai was leaving for his work, he came to meet me and...uh 'asked' me to look out for you. In a very polite way I must say. Very politely. But long story short I have to follow you everywhere so that you're not in any kind of danger."
