Jenkinson's Boardwalk was on a pier in New Jersey

Jenkinson's Boardwalk was on a pier in New Jersey. By day it was a family favourite, kids enjoying the rides and families dining at the restaurants. At night it was an older crowd that visited the park, there was music playing and all the rides were lit by coloured lights. If your inner child was starved of these kinds of experiences, it was impossible not to be mesmerized by the place. Even the drunks, who were trying to pick fights and the experimenting teenagers, puking behind a tent after drinking too much, were a joyous part of the experience.

Harry held my hand, which I found myself getting more used to, almost expecting him to grab my hand if we let go of each other for a moment to do something else. I wanted to try a couple of rides, and he went with me without hesitation.

"Are you sure you're tall enough for this one?" He said teasingly as we stood in line to try a roller coaster.

"Hey!" I nudged him and narrowed my eyes at him, but was unable to hold back a laugh when he patted me on the head. He towered over me quite a bit, which for some reason I really liked. While standing in line he let me be in front of him, and I nearly stopped breathing when he put his arms around my shoulders and hugged me from behind. I had to bite down on my lip to stop myself from smiling like an idiot, but it wasn't easy. At first I was a little stiff, but with time I loosened up and leaned into his embrace, allowing him to rest his chin on top of my head. When it was our turn to get into a carriage I shivered slightly, having been so warm with his arms around me and standing close to his body heat. He noticed and offered me his shirt.

"It's okay, you'll be cold," I said and smiled at him.

"No, I'm hardly ever cold," he said and shrugged the shirt off, letting me slip into it. He chuckled and shook his head. "You're disappearing in it."

"Might be a little on the larger side, but I like oversized clothes," I chuckled and scrunched my nose at him.

He looked at me for a moment and my pulse started escalating. He put his arm around me and scooted a little closer to me, just as the go-signal went off and the ride started. I was pretty sure he wanted to kiss me, but instead he held onto me, while we took off going up and down the rails taking us around a large area of the amusement park. My stomach was tickling and I laughed while I threw my arms in the air when we accelerated down the rails. Harry laughed as well, but I think he laughed more at me than the actual ride.

Once we got back on the ground I was ecstatic with adrenaline, jumping up and down. "We have to try another one!" I exclaimed.

Harry laughed warmly and nodded. He looked around to check where to go, while I looked up at him and felt the urge to just grab him and kiss him. I was fairly sure I could get away with it, being on my current amusement park ride-high. I decided to be bold and brave, as I slipped a hand up around his neck, making him look surprised at me. I raised to my toes and he read my actions perfectly, lowering his face to meet mine. Just before our lips touched he slipped an arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him, making something at the pit of my stomach ache.
