I fell asleep reading about the Theseus Paradox

I fell asleep reading about the Theseus Paradox. The heavy book was lying halfway across my face when I woke up the next morning. I had a clear mark on my cheek from where the book had rested. I took a selfie and thought about sending it to Ethan, but he would probably see it as a critique of his very, interesting book. Instead I sent it to Morgan and wrote ' When you fall asleep reading the extremely interesting book your boyfriend thinks you need to read'.

I got out of bed and stretched a bit, walking over to the window to sit on the window seat and look out over the backyard and the pond behind the house. It was quiet and peaceful, not a sight of anyone anywhere. I sat for a while and just took in the view. I smiled to myself at the thought of us running around playing soccer the night before.

Wearing my tiny, chequered pajama shorts and a sports top, I grabbed my towel and an outfit and went into the bathroom. I yawned as I walked over to the mirror and found my toothbrush. Then I remembered to lock the other door and hurried over to do so. It wasn't until I was back in front of the sink it dawned on me that there was the sound of running water and it wasn't because I had left the faucet running. I couldn't bring myself to turn around, but let my eyes glide up to the mirror, catching sight of someone showering behind the glass wall. There was steam, so I couldn't tell who it was, but I carefully tried to sneak my way back into my room. I thought I was stealthy, but just as I was about to exit the bathroom, I heard a voice from the shower.

"There really isn't much of a point in leaving now, is there?"

Harry. Of course it had to be Harry.

"Sorry," I said and felt horribly embarrassed. "I didn't see you."

He was quiet, but the sound of water hitting his skin told me he was still just showering like my presence didn't matter. I was frozen on the spot, not really sure what to do. But in the end I hurriedly opened the door to my room and closed it behind me. I let out a deep breath and rolled my eyes at myself. I would just wait there until he was done. I tried to hear if he was still in the bathroom, but nearly died of a heart attack when he knocked on my door. I carefully opened it to face him wearing a towel around his waist, his hair damp hanging into his eyes and his skin still shining wet.

"The bathroom is available now," he said as he tucked his hair behind his ears and looked straight into my eyes. He held eye contact, making my knees feel like jelly with the intensity of his glare. Usually he wouldn't even look in my direction. His eyes were beautifully green, quite breathtakingly actually. It took me a moment before I nodded to acknowledge I had gotten the message. He nodded and turned around, leaving the bathroom through the other door.

"What the fuck was that, Peyton," I mumbled to myself as I went in and locked the doors. He was so obviously an asshole, and not my type at all, but there was something about him. Not just that he was gorgeous, because he really was, but there was something interesting, probably terribly complicated in his eyes, something that Morgan was always trying to protect.
