External Point Of View:

It was the way people were parting, like the Red Sea when Moses passed through it, that caught Ryan's attention. It was when he saw the face of the person, who had finally reached him, that he understood. The bitch was back and she was looking better than ever. Right in front of Ryan stood Alex Lane, his dearest little sister.

"Damn baby girl, you look great." He tries to hug her but gets pushed away. Alex just stands there with a neutral expression, the one her brother has gotten so used to.

"Do not call me that, please," the younger one says stiffly.

"Oh, shut up and come here big girl," he says still giving her a hug, which she reciprocates this time.

"I swear I didn't know I would miss your annoying ass as much as I did," Ryan says, hugging his sister even closer and making them both laugh lightly.

"Where is he?" Alex asks.

"In his office...you sure you wanna go in there right now? We could go and grab some drinks first? It's been what...two years?" Ryan proposes questioningly, tapping his sister's shoulder.

"It's only been six months since I last saw your ugly face. But, maybe later? I have some matters to attend to with granddad."

"Okay. Meet me at Delirium at 10," the older of the two says.

"Okay, but, please don't tell John that I am back. It will only give him an excuse to throw a party," she said as she walks into the elevator.

"Okay," he says.

The elevator dings indicating to Alex that she had finally arrived to her grandfather's floor. Greeted by his secretary, she was escorted to his office where he sat on the phone but quickly ended his call as soon as she walked in. He got up and took his granddaughter in his arms. Alex grunted and rolled her eyes, making Albert's secretary laugh before making her way out and shutting the door.

"I can't breathe grandpa," Alex says, smothered.

"Oh my god! I've missed you so much!" He finally lets go of her, but holds her at arms length as he looks at her. "Please tell me that you went to see your mother? She has been bitching about you these last few weeks because she couldn't reach you on the phone."
Alex giggles at the gray haired man's language.

"Yes, I spent the night at her place."

Albert nods and continues, "So, Sergeant, what have you been doing these last two years?"

"How in the hell did you know I got promoted?!? That was meant to be a surprise," Alex frowns as she takes a place on the couch on the far left side of the office.
