Today, everyone left town. The moon is stuck overhead. Our neighbor left the water hose running overnight and it flooded into our yard in the morning. One Summer Night by The Danleers has been blasting through the jukebox at the local diner since six in the morning. All three colors of traffic lights around the suburbs have turned yellow. There's this sharp lemon-y scent that I get a whiff off every once in a while wherever I go.

It was cloudless most of the day, and the moon stayed looming. I fear it's a harbinger of something I've been dreading.
