TAYLORS POV

Jake and I walked into the bar, his hand on my back firmly. Too firmly. His fingers were pressed right on my fresh bruises from last night, and I winced as he pushed me forward through the sea of football fans.

He had taken me to the award ceremony for one of his favourite football teams. Somehow he had got tickets through his 'connections', ones that I was not sure that were perfectly legal.

We approached a large table full of laughing men, and they all greeted him friendlily. "Who's the chick?" I heard one of them laugh, winking at me in a disgusting way that made my skin crawl. Tonight was going to be a long night sat with these idiots.

"That's my girlfriend, douche." Jake punched his arm jokingly, before shaking his hand and patting him on the back. "Her names Taylor. She wanted to come along."

That was not true in the slightest, Jake had practically forced me to come with him when I refused so many times. I had begged him not to make me go, but he just told me to "suck it up" or "shut the fuck up".

This had led into a blazing argument, and shortly after I hit the wall from Jake's push and fell to the floor, clutching my head in my arms. After that, I had just submitted myself to him and as he would say, I "sucked it up." I put on a nice, long and red dressed that covered the bruises that littered on my back. For my arms, I just wore a burgundy cardigan, but I didn't know how long I was going to be able to keep it on as it was absolutely boiling in the room, with mixes of sweat and beer making me want to throw up.

I sat perched on the edge of the bench, wincing every time one of Jake's friends got too close, their beer coated breath making me want to vomit. This football team were really taking their time, I honestly just wanted to get out of here.

As my eyes drifted across the room, catching sight of people dancing, singing and god knows what, they suddenly stopped on a familiar face. One that I also never expected to see again in my lifetime. And here I was, 7 years after, seeing the man that saved my life. Travis Kelce.

7 Years Prior

"Hi. " I giggled, wrapping my arms around Travis' neck and pulling him closer to me. "I missed you."  We were hidden in the janitor's cupboard, ironic I know , as this was the only way we could see each other in school without being spotted by someone who wanted to torment me.

"I missed you too baby.." Travis murmured, burying his face in my lilac sweater that clung to my upper torso. "Soon, we can get out of this place and I can be with you all the time." Travis had a way of saying the sweetest things and making me positively blush, I just wished we didn't have to do it in secret.

"How's your parents?" I asked him, which in response he pulled a face at me and shrugged. They weren't happy with Travis' football career, they believed it was 'an excuse to not work'. I always reassured him and told him he was the most clever person I knew, which wasn't a lie. Travis had a magnetic way of expressing himself, and even if it wasn't by getting grade A's, I still loved him.

One thing that brought us together was our broken families, how we held each other in the darkness of our home lives. He saved my life, mentally.
