The door to room 331 bursts open with a flourish as Wangyi, the vivacious SNH48 team HII idol, sashays into the shared living space. Her eyes sparkle with excitement, a contagious grin plastered across her beautiful features.
"Zhou Shi Yu! Zhou Shi Yu, you'll never guess what happened today!" Wangyi exclaims, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. She bounds across the room, her long, silky hair bouncing with each step.Seated at the desk, her gaze glued to the laptop screen, is Zhou Shi Yu - Wangyi's roommate partner, who is more reserved person from team NII. The contrast between the two idols is palpable; where Wangyi exudes youthful energy, Zhou Shi Yu emanates a calm, focused demeanor.
"Hm?" Zhou Shi Yu hums absentmindedly, her fingers never ceasing their rapid dance across the keyboard. Her brow is furrowed in concentration, the glow of the laptop casting a soft light on her delicate features.
Undeterred by her roommate's apparent disinterest, Wangyi plops down on the edge of the bed, her legs swinging enthusiastically. "Guess what? Guess what?" she prompts, her voice rising in pitch with each word.
Zhou Shi Yu spares a brief glance in Wangyi's direction, offering a distracted nod before returning her attention to the screen. "Yeah, yeah, what is it?" she murmurs, her tone betraying her single-minded focus on the task at hand.
Wangyi's smile falters momentarily, but she quickly recovers, determined to share her exciting news. "Okay, so you know my birthday theater show is coming up, right?" she begins, leaning forward eagerly. "Well, I just got the final costume designs, and they're absolutely stunning! And the songs we've chosen are going to blow everyone away!"
She pauses, her eyes widening as she awaits Zhou Shi Yu's reaction. But the older idol remains engrossed in her work, her fingers flying across the keyboard with unwavering concentration.
Wangyi's brow furrows, and she shifts slightly on the bed, trying to catch Zhou Shi Yu's gaze. "Zhou Shi Yu? Are you even listening to me?" she asks, a hint of frustration creeping into her voice.
Zhou Shi Yu's response is a simple, distracted "Mm-hmm," accompanied by a vague nod. Her eyes never leave the screen, her focus unwavering.
Wangyi's excitement slowly morphs into exasperation as she watches her roommate's seemingly disinterested response. She waves her hands in the air, trying to break Zhou Shi Yu's trance. "Zhou Shi Yu! This is important! My birthday theater performance is in two weeks, and I need your input!"
Again, Zhou Shi Yu offers a non-committal hum, her fingers continuing their relentless typing. "That's great, Wangyi. I'm glad you're excited," she says, the words lacking any real enthusiasm.
Wangyi's face falls, and she lets out a dramatic sigh, her shoulders slumping. "You don't even care, do you?" she mutters, her voice tinged with hurt.
Zhou Shi Yu blinks, finally tearing her gaze away from the laptop to look at her roommate. "Huh? What's wrong?" she asks, her brow furrowing in confusion.
Wangyi's eyes narrow, and she crosses her arms over her chest, turning away from Zhou Shi Yu. "Nothing. Forget it," she huffs, her tone petulant.
An uncomfortable silence settles over the room as Zhou Shi Yu pauses, her fingers hovering uncertainly over the keyboard. She glances at Wangyi's turned back, her expression a mixture of bewilderment and concern.
After a moment, Zhou Shi Yu tentatively reaches out a hand, lightly touching Wangyi's shoulder. "Wangyi, what's going on? Did I do something wrong?" she asks, her voice soft and gentle.
Wangyi stubbornly refuses to meet Zhou Shi Yu's gaze, her lips pressed into a thin line. "You didn't even listen to me. You don't care about my birthday show at all," she mutters, her words laced with accusation.
Zhou Shi Yu's brow furrows as she tries to piece together the situation. "What? No, that's not true. I'm sorry, I was just really focused on this assignment. I didn't mean to ignore you," she explains, her tone apologetic.
Wangyi's shoulders slump, and she heaves another dramatic sigh. "It's fine, Zhou Shi Yu. Just forget it," she says, her voice resigned.
The room falls silent once more, the only sound the steady tapping of Zhou Shi Yu's fingers on the keyboard. Wangyi sits, her gaze fixed on the floor, her excitement from earlier now replaced by a palpable disappointment.
Zhou Shi Yu steals a few glances at her roommate, her brow furrowed in concern. She knows she has upset Wangyi, but her single-minded focus on the task at hand has blinded her to the younger idol's needs.
As the awkward silence stretches on, Wangyi's frustration continues to simmer. She shifts restlessly on the bed, her fingers drumming against the mattress. Finally, she can no longer contain her emotions.
Abruptly, Wangyi stands, her movements sharp and decisive. She strides over to Zhou Shi Yu's desk, her expression a mix of irritation and hurt. "You know what, Zhou Shi Yu? Forget I said anything. It's obvious you don't care about me or my birthday show," she declares, her voice quivering with barely contained anger.
Zhou Shi Yu's eyes widen, and she quickly raises her hands in a placating gesture. "Wangyi, wait, that's not-" she begins, but Wangyi cuts her off with a sharp wave of her hand.
"Save it, I'm going to my room. Enjoy your precious assignment," Wangyi spits out, her words laced with venom. Without waiting for a response, she turns on her heel and storms out of the room, the door slamming shut behind her.
The sudden silence is deafening, and Zhou Shi Yu is left staring at the closed door, her mouth agape. She blinks, confusion and concern etched across her delicate features.
"What just happened?" she mumbles to herself, her fingers ceasing their typing as she tries to make sense of the abrupt confrontation.
