The tense silence that followed Wangyi's abrupt departure hung heavy in the air of room 331. Zhou Shi Yu sat at her desk, her fingers frozen above the keyboard as she stared at the closed door, bewilderment etched across her delicate features.
"What just happened?" she murmured to herself, her brow furrowed in confusion. Wangyi's outburst had come as a complete surprise, leaving Zhou Shi Yu grappling to make sense of the situation.Gradually, Zhou Shi Yu's focus shifted from the door to the task at hand. She glanced down at her laptop, noting the partially completed assignment. With a resigned sigh, she began to type again, her fingers moving with their usual efficiency.
Yet, try as she might, Zhou Shi Yu found it impossible to fully immerse herself in her work. Wangyi's hurt expression and the sting of her parting words kept intruding on her thoughts, disrupting her concentration.
"I should go talk to her," Zhou Shi Yu mused, chewing on her bottom lip. But just as she was about to push away from the desk, the door burst open once more, and Wangyi stormed back in, her eyes blazing with renewed fury.
"You!" Wangyi exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger at her roommate. "How dare you just sit there and ignore me!"
Zhou Shi Yu blinked, taken aback by the younger idol's sudden reappearance and the intensity of her emotions. "Wangyi, I–"
"No!" Wangyi cut her off, her voice rising in pitch. "Don't give me any of your excuses. You don't care about me or my birthday show at all, do you?"
Zhou Shi Yu's brow furrowed, and she held up her hands in a placating gesture. "Wangyi, that's not true. I care about you, and I'm sorry I–"
"Save it!" Wangyi snapped, stomping over to Zhou Shi Yu's desk. "You weren't even listening to me! All you care about is that stupid assignment of yours."
Zhou Shi Yu opened her mouth to respond, but Wangyi's fiery glare silenced her. The younger idol leaned in, her face mere inches from Zhou Shi Yu's, her expression a mix of hurt and frustration.
"You know, I thought we were partners, Zhou Shi Yu. But I guess I was wrong," Wangyi spat, her words laced with venom. "You don't give a damn about anything other than your precious schoolwork."
A flicker of hurt flashed across Zhou Shi Yu's features, but she quickly schooled her expression, determined to diffuse the tense situation. "Wangyi, please, let's talk about this. I didn't mean to upset you–"
But Wangyi was having none of it. She shook her head, her long hair whipping around her face. "Forget it, Zhou Shi Yu. I'm done," she declared, her voice trembling with barely contained emotion.
Zhou Shi Yu watched, her heart sinking, as Wangyi turned and stormed back towards the door. She hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to proceed, but then something unexpected happened.
A mischievous glint appeared in Zhou Shi Yu's eyes, and before Wangyi could reach the exit, the older idol's fingers darted out, finding the sensitive spots on Wangyi's sides. The younger idol let out a startled squeal, her entire body jerking as she was assaulted by a barrage of tickles.
"What–? Yah ! stop!" Wangyi cried, her voice torn between laughter and indignation. She tried to bat away Zhou Shi Yu's hands, but the older girl was relentless, her nimble fingers dancing across Wangyi's skin.
The room erupted in a cacophony of giggles and playful shrieks as the two idols became entangled in a tickle fight. Wangyi's frustrated pout quickly morphed into a genuine smile, and soon, both girls were laughing uncontrollably, all traces of their earlier argument forgotten.
Finally, breathless and grinning, they collapsed onto the floor in a tangled heap, their bodies shaking with the force of their laughter. Zhou Shi Yu gazed at Wangyi, her eyes sparkling with mirth, and Wangyi returned the look, her earlier anger now replaced by a warm affection.
"Feeling better now?" Zhou Shi Yu asked, her voice soft and gentle.
Wangyi nodded, a sheepish smile spreading across her face. "I guess so," she admitted, her tone laced with a hint of embarrassment.
Zhou Shi Yu reached out and gently tucked a stray lock of hair behind Wangyi's ear, her touch featherlight. "I'm sorry I was so absorbed in my work and didn't pay attention to you. I know how important your birthday show is to you, and I should have been more engaged."
Wangyi's eyes widened, and she nodded again. "I'm sorry too," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I overreacted, and I know you were just focused on your assignment. It's not easy for me to share your attention sometimes."
Zhou Shi Yu chuckled and reached out, gently squeezing Wangyi's hand. "I understand. We'll work on that, okay? I promise to be more mindful of you and your needs."
Wangyi's face lit up with a radiant smile, and she squeezed Zhou Shi Yu's hand in return. "Okay," she agreed, her earlier frustration all but forgotten.
The two idols sat in comfortable silence for a moment, their gazes locked in a silent understanding. Then, a mischievous grin spread across Wangyi's face, and before Zhou Shi Yu could react, the younger girl's fingers were once again assaulting her sides.
"Wangyi!" Zhou Shi Yu exclaimed, her voice a mix of surprise and laughter as she squirmed under Wangyi's tickling. "Not again!"
The room once more filled with the sound of their joyful giggles, the earlier tension now completely dissipated. As they wrestled playfully on the floor, Zhou Shi Yu couldn't help but marvel at the resilience of their friendship, and the power of open communication – even if it took a tickle fight to get there.
When their laughter finally subsided, both girls lay sprawled on the floor, their breathing heavy and their cheeks flushed. Wangyi reached out and gave Zhou Shi Yu's arm a gentle nudge, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"You know, we should do this more often," she said, a teasing lilt to her voice.
Zhou Shi Yu chuckled and shook her head, a fond smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I suppose we should," she conceded, her tone playful.
With a contented sigh, Wangyi scooted closer to Zhou Shi Yu, letting her head come to rest on the older idol's shoulder. Zhou Shi Yu instinctively wrapped an arm around Wangyi, pulling her in closer.
In that moment, the walls of room 331 bore witness to a strengthened bond, forged through the crucible of miscommunication and the healing power of laughter. As the two idols basked in the warmth of their renewed understanding, the room once again filled with the sound of their shared mirth, a testament to the beauty of their friendship.
