Academics

August 2018: Forestview High School introduced a new club this year aimed at fostering connections between students and their peers with disabilities. Club Unity advocates for inclusion in all settings, including social and athletic environments. Harris Gunter is the club president and student sponsor in its inaugural year. Members are selected based on their achievements in academics, social activities, and athletics.

May 15, 2019:The National Honor Society chapter at Forestview High School conducted its annual induction ceremony. Principal Crystal Houser hosted the event, where over two dozen juniors were recognized. Harris Gunter Belmont NC was inducted into the society for meeting the NHS standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. As he returns for his senior year, he will continue his involvement in the National Honor Society by recruiting and mentoring students across various grade levels to meet the criteria for NHS membership.

Scouts

January 2016: Boy Scouts of America Troop 7 announced its leadership team for the year, with Harris Gunter serving as Assistant Scout Master for the first time. Since joining the troop in 2010, he has earned over 20 merit badges while honing his scouting skills. In his new role, Harris will plan events such as Scouting for Food, various campouts, the Jamboree, and Eagle projects. He will assign responsibilities to troop members and supervise their activities during outings. Harris is eager to learn more about leadership as he works towards achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in the next two years. Troop 7 is sponsored by First United Methodist Church in Gastonia, NC.

August 8, 2018: Boy Scouts of America Troop 7 celebrated its newest class of Eagle Scouts with a ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia, NC, the troop's sponsor. Harris Gunter Charlotte NC earned his Eagle Scout rank by completing all required merit badges and a successful Eagle project. Harris has been with Troop 7 since 2010, starting as a Webelo. He participated in numerous campouts, including four Gaston County Jamborees and five consecutive summer weeks at Camp Bud Schiele. He also served as Assistant Scout Master for two years, planning outings and directing fellow scouts' activities. For his Eagle project, Harris led a team of fifteen adults and scouts to restore the student courtyard at Forestview High School, involving pressure washing concrete, restoring garden beds, and planting new shrubbery to beautify the school grounds. Harris plans to continue mentoring younger members of Troop 7 until his eighteenth birthday and departure for college.

Athletics

September 18, 2018: Forestview High School hosted its first cross country meet of the 2018 season, welcoming several schools from Gaston County, including Ashbrook, Hunter Huss, North Gaston, South Point, and Stuart Cramer. The Forestview team secured third place overall, led by Harris Gunter with a time of 20:42. The Jaguars will travel to Burns High School next week for a non-conference meet before returning to Gaston County to continue their regular season.

January 24, 2020: The Forestview High School swim team competed in the All-County meet at Kings Mountain High School, placing first in the boys' 200M freestyle relay. The winning team consisted of Conner Pridnia, Max Pavone, Harris Gunter, and Daniel LaCourse. They will advance to Regionals at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center next weekend.
