Chris POV:

"Momma please"! I pleaded. She continued pealing potatoes. "Please she can pay for it".

"Chris I said no"! She firmly stated looking at me.

"Why"???

"Boy you know why! Y'all were doing something y'all had no business doin' so therefore y'all are gunna just have to deal with it".

I sighed sitting down across from her at the kitchen island. "You're always telling me to fix my problems and I'm try-"

"Uhuh", she sassed. "You want me to help fix your problems! I'm the one that's suppose to be her lawyer not you".

"So you're just gunna let her lose her job and get locked up"??

She sat the pealer down, "no". She picked up the bowl of potatoes going over to the sink and filling it with water. "I would never wish something like that to happen to anyone".

"Then why won't you help her".

She shut off the faucet and wiped her hands on her apron, "there's laws Chris".

"Laws? I'm 19. Hell there's the Romeo and Juliet law".

She laughed covering her mouth.

"I'm dead serious momma".

"I know baby". She sat down next to me, "at least you were somewhat listening to some of the things I was telling you. But that law doesn't even apply to this situation. First of all y'all did not have a high school relationship that carried into college also, were not in Texas. Then Renee is a teacher and you're a student, now that's a law".

"What's it called"? I asked not believing her.

"Its called the law and "touching" students", she explained .

"Really that's what its called"?

"Uh yeah. It prevents students and teachers from having relationships. One for underage students which obviously is not the case in this situation. But part of that law might apply to this. They don't know if this relationship was just like how you were telling me earlier how Trey's and her's was."

"Naw I never blackmailed her", I defended.

"Not necessarily blackmailing. She could've said if you wanted better grades or to pass her class then you needed to have sex with her. Plus that's what Trey said she did to him, so you do understand why Renee looks like a bad guy right?"

"Yea", I sighed feeling defeated.

"But....Trey and Coach Mason wasn't that smart either. Some states adopted that law and some didn't". She smiled.

"So your telling me"? I smirked.

"They can't charge her".

"Okay well now we needa get her a good lawyer".

"A lawyer???? Boy you think I told you all that for the fun of it", she laughed.

"Thank you momma"! I cheered hugging her.

"You're welcome, you went through all this trouble so I guess you really do love her".

"I do. But I love you more", I said kissing her cheek.

"I love you too".

Renee POV:

I took a deep breath fixing my hair. Today was the day I've been dreading for a whole week. They took me into custody and I was currently suppose to stay as far away from Chris until I had to appear in court. Which was today. There was a light knock on the bathroom door.
