"jake?" jay's voice calls from behind the door. "are you awake?"

"go away. i don't want your company."

"jake. please open the door." jay pleads, his fist wrapped tightly around the doorknob. "i need to make sure you're okay!"

after what seems like forever, the door slowly opens, revealing a puffy faced jake. jay tugs him into his arms, rubbing his hair and patting his back.

"everything is going to be okay. i promise everything will be okay."

jake breaks down in his arms, clinging to his shirt and getting his shirt wet with snot.

"it's just not fair." jake wails. "what does he have that i don't? what makes him better than me? why does he always get everything that i deserve?"

"i don't know." jay whispers, still holding his friend close. "but please don't blame yourself. heeseung is just being a jerk. he's being stupid. he doesn't deserve you so please don't think anything is your fault."

jake wails at his words and jay shushes him softly, gently running a hand through his messy hair.

i promise everything is going to be okay, jake. please let me in and let me take care of you.. please let me be the shoulder you cry on when you need someone.
