It was a heavy rain that night.
The trees in that desolate forest sway in one direction as the gusts of wind blow anything in their path. Large droplets of rainwater fall from the starless sky, crashing through the wet, sludgy piles of mud and rocks. Flashes of lightning could be seen alongside loud crashes of thunder that make everyone shudder in fear. Despite that, there lie multiple white wooden poles pierced into the ground, serving as a remembrance of the people who perished in an unusual yet excruciating war to reclaim what was stolen from them.
Suddenly, a black-cloaked man slowly walks through one of the stakes that somehow differs from the rest. He gives it a closer look. It is a bit longer and more colorful and vibrant than the rest. Aside from that, there are words etched on that said pole. From what is written, it says, "Here lies our Otaku Hero." It might be ridiculous for those who don't know, but it means a lot for those who do, including him.
"What a poor soul, you are..." the cloaked man utters solemnly. "Getting caught in this mess due to my negligence. If only I knew... Well, there's no more reason to blame whoever. I have to make this right."
With a powerful resolve, he brings out a purple-hued orb from his robe, glowing still and peaceful. He places the orb in front of the stake and begins chanting.
"Heed my call, oh pitiful soul! Return thyself from the land of the damned and be freed from the shackles of death!"
As the man chants, the orb starts to glow even brighter and buries itself into the ground.
"From this dirt and mud, Arise and Live with all might! GRAND RESURRECTION!"
The ground starts emitting beams of golden light and starts shaking slightly as the man casts his spell. After a few seconds, the light diminishes instantly, and the shaking stops. The cloaked man then grins a little as he believes it was a success.
"Welcome back, Otaku Hero." He says as a rotting hand rises from the ground, trying to reach something afar.
Thus, the story of his return and revenge begins from this moment.
