Chapter 7: In the Space Between

IN SCHOOL

(Mateo)
"Soooo what happened with Alisa?"
(Braxton)
"Nothing man we just did our project the whole time"
(Mateo)
"Nahhh you got lucky i know you did. Theres no way you would leave her house unlucky!"
(Leah)
-Overhears the conversation-
"Jesse over here!!"
(Jesse)
"Whats up le?"
(Leah)
"Did you hear that loser had sex with Braxton yesterday!"
(Jesse)
"What loser?"
(Leah)
"Alisa cooper!"
(Jesse)
"Wait why do you care you're dating Mateo?"
(Leah)
"That is beside the point Jesse. She beneath us and there is no way I'm going to married into a family that she's in."
(Jesse)
"Okay le but I don't want anything to do with what you're planning."     

(Leah)

"Girl it wont be illegal if you thought it was going to be."

(Jesse)

"I don't care if it is legal or illegal i refuse to be any more apart of a mean girl cliche than i already am."

Meanwhile with Alisa

(Selene)

"Alisa are you going to tell me what happened with football boy?"

(Alisa)

"There is nothing to talk about sel."

(Sel)

"Yeah right i can tell when your lying and besides i mention his name and you blush from ear to ear."

(Alisa)

As we walk down the hall and sel keeps bothering me about this weekend my mind begins to wander to what braxton is doing. I guess i get lost in thought because I end up bumping into him.

(Braxton)

"Woah there mi tesoro... going somewhere?"

(Alisa)

"Umm.... Yea."

(Braxton)

"Hey can we talk?"

(Alisa)

"Yeah... hey sel we can catch up later okay."

(Sel)

"Okayyyyyy girl i see you and definitely we will talk later!"

(Alisa)
"What did you want to talk about?"
(Braxton)
"Soooo I really like you and want to know if you wanted to-
(Alisa)
"I'm going to stop you right there.. Look we have only known each other a few days and yes there is chemistry but it's not a good idea.
(Braxton)
"We may have only known each other a few days but I know what i feel and-
(Alisa)
"Look Braxton... it's our senior year and its not a good idea because at the end of the year we will be going to different schools and on different paths."
(Braxton)
"Mi Tesor-"
(Alisa)
"Im sorry ..."
I turn to head to my class without looking back. Now it definitely seems like a scene out of a movie. All thats missing is a mafia tale. I didn't want to reject him but being with him will make things way too complicated for me.
(Braxton)
As she walked away from me i felt a tightness in my chest. I wanted to stop her i truly did but what good would it have done. We still have a few days left to do the project and i know its going to be hard.

After school

(Braxton)
"Hey Alisa... we still need to finish the project."
(Alisa)
"Yea i know.... here i have an idea"
(Braxton)
She begins to take her phone out and next thing i know she snaps 3 pictures.
"What are you doing?"
(Alisa)
"Look i have been doing some thinking and i think its best if we stay away from each other."
(Braxton)
"Were suppose to being doing a portrait how are photos going to help if I'm not posing how you need me to."
(Alisa)
"Easy, I started the base when you came over the other day and now i have your face and body in the picture so I won't have to do it off memory."
(Braxton)
"How is that best for both of us?"
(Alisa)
"When we're together a lot statistically speaking we are more likely to grow feelings for each other. More than we already have."
(Braxton)
"Sooo you admit you have feelings for me...."
(Alisa)
"Seriously Braxton thats all you got from that. I never denied having feelings or chemistry with you. All i said is that it is best that we leave it as it is now so it won't hurt later on.
(Braxton)
"How do you know it will hurt later?"
(Alisa)
"It is just a risk I'm not sure i want to take Braxton but if fate has other plans later down the road then so be it but until then I'm Sorry."
I turn and run to my car so I can head home. Tears begin forming in my eyes and I can't help but let one fall down my face. As one fell they all begin to race down my cheek. I'm not even sure why I'm crying its not like we were together.

Deep down i knew she was going to do that but i guess i just hoped she wouldn't. Is giving up really my only option. I hate letting fate pick because I know all the well that Fates choice isn't always mine.
