Chapter 5

NOW – October

Gilmore Island, UK

Josh

It's the night of the Full Moon party and the mansion is buzzing with action. There is nothing that compares to a Black Wolves Full Moon party. I've done a lot of partying in my time between school and rugby and the like – but nothing goes quite as hard as this.

Owen Rutger is my first cousin, my dad's sister, Aunt Gwen's oldest son. We're the same age and have always been thick as thieves. Much like me, Owen loves to party. Unlike me, Owen doesn't know when to let up.

Currently, I watch in horror as he stands shirtless on top of a table, waving a god damn banana around asking if anyone wants to "come have a taste of his banana."

I wince. He's an idiot. But I love him more than I love most people. Owen is more of a lover than a fighter. I'm pretty sure if he wasn't my cousin, Aleks wouldn't have let him initiate into the Wolves. Owen is surprising though. He's got several tricks up his sleeve, including the ability to get a lot of people to tell him a lot of things.

Only problem is Owen likes to talk too.

Needless to say, I'm constantly having to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't step out of line.

I'm trying not to crack up as he waves the banana around to no avail. No one is interested, I guess.

The Donnelly girls walk into the room, drawing attention of everyone near. Along with Tate, Imogen, Sophie, and Ari, are Aleks and Zane's little sister, Eva and Leo's little sister, Hannah. They make a formidable little group of nightmares, those six.

I notice that Ari is in her signature color – light purple. Her dark hair is pulled up into a ponytail, exposing her elegant neck. The same neck I've stared at so many times as she's danced onstage, her posture unreal. The same neck I've kissed. I can almost remember the taste of her if I close my eyes and think hard enough.

"Baby girls!" Owen cries out in a thick Irish accent. His accent gets heaviest when he's drunk. He quite literally jumps off of the table, but does not at all stick the landing as he goes diving into Hannah Moretti.

"Oof!" she cries out as they tumble to the floor in a heap, knocking out Sophie in the tumble. Sophie starts giggling as she shoves Owen off of them.

"Sorry!" Owen looks apologetic as he helps Hannah up. "Did I hurt you?"

Hannah gives him a blank stare.

"Let me make it up to you!" Owen cries out, looking around, desperate for something – anything. He grabs the fallen banana and holds it out to her.

Hannah's blank stare turns to horror.

Owen grins charmingly. "They're high in potassium."

"I'm getting enough potassium, thank you though!" Hannah smirks.

Owen laughs a bit before throwing his arms around Imogen and Tate. Tate looks beyond annoyed but Imogen offers her other second-cousin a small smile.

"It's not even 10. How drunk are you?" she asks.

"I've hardly drank! I'm drunk on life, Genny Girl!" Owen smacks a kiss on her cheek then turns to Tate, puckering his lips.
