My eyes flutter to the consistent ringing coming from my phone. The early morning light through my curtains opens my eyes wider and wider by the second. I groggily reach for my phone, squinting my eyes at the screen. It's Hailey calling."Hi hailey" I mumbled half asleep.
"Good morning to you Mads there's going to be a party at Alyssa's house tonight! You have to come." Her voice filled with excitement.
"Again? Are we ever gonna run out of alcohol?" I giggle to my own words. We've been doing about two parties a week for almost a month now so it's pretty impressive we still have enough.
Hailey joins me in my laugh. "Come on! Just come, you know you'll have fun." Even though it doesn't sound the most fun at the moment, Hailey always finds a way to get my ass to go to these parties. UGH.
We hang up the phone and I begin to get ready for my day. I start my day off with a cup of iced coffee sitting in my backyard while enjoying the fresh breeze from the cool night before. I text Hailey about what we're going to wear and she offered to pick me up before so we can get ready together like we usually do and of course I say yes.
These parties usually end up in a mess just like the last time basically everyone fell asleep on the lawn while the bonfire was still going. I could never complain about the life I have and i'm glad to finally say i'm no longer in high school as of last Friday night. I do want to make this last summer with my friends the best one yet and if that means going to multiple parties a week, I guess i'm in for a long ride.
I tidy my room up and before I know it i'm getting a call from Hailey letting me know she's on her way.
I grab a bag full of makeup which is quite literally pointless since it all rubs off by the end of the night, a skimpy top not because I want guys attention like Kasey but because I feel confident in these types of tops. It wouldn't make the outfit if i didn't bring my favorite pair of jean shorts so I had to take those too.
By the time I finish packing my bag Hailey is waiting in the driveway for me. I say goodbye to my mom letting her know i'll be staying at Hailey's again which is always my excuse but she never second guesses it. I jog out to Hailey's car and sit i the passenger seat.
"Hey girl" Hailey greets me with the same contagious smile she's always had.
"What's up" I smile back at her with the same engery.
"Are you ready?" She looks me up and down with an almost confused face.
"No not at all I have to do my makeup and change" I answer her question fulfilling her thoughts about my horrible pajama shorts and my old shirt.
We share a laugh until I look over to her white.
"Are you okay" I turn my hair toward hers.
"Yeah but there's something I have to tell you" Her lips quiver and her face is blank white filled with worry. "Well...Kasey is at my house right now.." You've got to be fucking kidding me..
"What?!" I raise my voice. Not in anger towards Hailey at all but fully towards that snake bitch Kasey.
Me and Kasey have had problems for as long as I can remember. There's no specific reason why we hate each other so much but I know all I need to know about her. She's a horrible person a horrible friend and I can't stand to hear that annoying squeaky voice, especially not when I'm trying to hang out with my best friend.
"I know I know Mads but she literally just came to my house and knocked on my door and asked to hangout. Trust me I was just as surprised as you are." She elaborates her thoughts on the subject. "Just try not to attack her sober, at least wait until she's blacked out drunk" She giggles with her attempt to lighten up the situation.
