"I like you, Aishi-san. Please go out with me."

For the second Friday in a row, Ayano was unable to confess to Taro because instead, someone else was confessing to her. Last time, it was a boy from her sports club, Iruka. This time, it was another club-mate, Hojiro. She barely even talked to either of them outside of club activities.

"You're really sweet, but I can't accept your confession."

"I knew it," he sighed. "I just needed to get it off my chest. Thank you for coming here to meet me anyway."

Ayano forced a smile, and after an awkward goodbye, Hojiro left her under the tree.

It made her think of what she could do once she confessed to Taro. She hadn't spoken to him yet, but she had been showering him with gifts and notes in his locker for the past two weeks. Not that he knew who they were from, but at least she wouldn't be a complete stranger.

She had planned almost everything out. In fact, she already had the letter asking Taro to meet him under the cherry blossom tree:

Dear Yamada-senpai,

I hope you like the letters I wrote to you these past few days. I'm sorry for keeping my identity a secret. I have been struggling to find the courage to face you. But I realize now that nothing will ever progress if I keep myself anonymous...

So if you're okay with it, please meet me under the cherry tree behind the school after club activities. To prove to you how sincere I am, I want to tell you how I feel in person.

- Your Secret Admirer

The letter had been rotting for the past two weeks. Though she wanted to blame Iruka and Hojiro for ruining her plans, she couldn't deny that a part of her felt relieved every time her confession was delayed.

As Ayano struggled to make a decision, her phone buzzed.

Info-chan

Info-chan:
Hey. Have you confessed to Taro Yamada yet?

Me:
No, I'm planning to soon.

Info-chan:
What's the hold up?

Me:
Why does it matter to you?

Info-chan:
I spent all that time helping you and now all my hard work is going to waste.

Me:
I'll get to it soon.

Info-chan:
Your little brother's birthday is coming up.
If you threw a party, he'll definitely invite Hanako Yamada.
And you know that girl never goes anywhere without her big brother.

Me:
You want me to confess to him at my own brother's birthday party?
Why would I do something that horrible?

Info-chan:
You're funny sometimes, Ayano.
But anyway, my suggestion wasn't to confess to him.
This is your chance to get to know him.
He's not going to accept a confession from any random girl.

Me:
Yeah, I know that.
Stop pestering me now.

Info-chan:
You only get one chance. Be smart about it.
