"Detective! Over here, holy shit it's raining hard as fuck." Is what I hear far on my left.
"Kiss your mother with that mouth John. You should use better words, don't you think?
"Oh I normally would but there's a son of a bitch out there killing people. Got eye witnesses saying they seen a suspicious man" He let out a frustrating breath. "But they must have seen a different man because there descriptions don't add up to one other." I can hear the disappointment in his deep voice and see it in his eyes. His right there is a son of a bitch out there; murdering someone right under our noses, anyone would have their blood boiling. But as soon as you let despair take over they win and I'll be damn if I let that happen.
"John relax we'll get this person but till then let's take a look at the crime scene" I say already walking ahead and hearing his footsteps catching up.
"I heard from them other cops saying it's not that ba-" Cutting him off.
"We don't say disgusting lies like that, it's someone's life that has been repressed. It was you that said this is a son of bitch" I say while stepping in the abandon house.
"Alright Detective Santos." He said with annoyance hidden in his voice.
We stepped in the house, which now crime scenes tape covered the place. I look around; the living room was covered with cards and in the middle a woman. Her feet facing the stairs and her head facing me, I step around the body, her eyes are open and looking up as if her last hopes was for god to safe her. The cards had blood on them but it was faded.
"Cards huh? Maybe a message." John said next to me writing something down.
"Or a symbol." I turn my head and yelled "can I get these cards photography and the blood tested to see if the blood matches the victim. Need the photo and results sent to my office ASP."
I kneed down getting a closer view of the body; she has cuts from her side of her face to her arms. "There perfectly symmetrical, no other bruises as if she didn't fight back." I said to myself. I turn to the young man next to me. "What did you get from the body and who are you?
"I need to do more examinations on the body, we only see the cuts that are visible, and we know nothing on what's underneath the clothes. Even so, your right she didn't seem to put much of a fight, maybe she was drugged. Can't and don't want to make any more inference. Oh and I'm Max, just got sign to help the department ." The young man talked fast and he never made eye contact, I like him.
"Well I'm Detective Santo-"I was cut off by John's yelling
"Detective! You need to get a look at this." He yells from the kitchen. I calmly walked to the kitchen to see blood on the wall spelling "Eyes see souls. Can you see mine" Eyes? What does he mean by eyes and souls?
"Hey, I found something on the body." Max yelled. John and I rushed to the living room to see that Max was carrying an eye.
" Come on dude put that down, why are you carrying an eye?" John said covering his face.
Max had a confuse experience on "Aren't you a detective?"
"Yes I am, but no one wants to see an eye out of someone's head." John shook his body.
"Well you partner doesn't seem to have a problem with it." Max said while looking at the eye.
"Well she has a strong stomach and I do-"John began to say.
"Max get to the point about the eye will ya." I snapped. John eyes widen and was getting ready to say something but Max beat him to it.
"Well don't worry pretty boy, the eye is fake, took me a while to notice." Max explains without looking away from the eye and looking a little disappointed
"So you're telling us that the guy took her eye?" John asked and was writing the comment down. I thought about the words written on the wall, "Eyes see souls. Can you see mine?" That missing eye has to have something. I look down to floor trying to figure it out and I see the cards, and the blood forming a letter.
"Look at the cards" I told John, he bends down and till his head. The blood was faded; just like the victims hope for a savor. I'm sure her soul was suffocated with the dark flames of hated while this person toke her breath away. Wait her soul.
I run to the kitchen to the written words, both were faded as he was waving a flag with the words "HERES A CLUE". John come beside me and whispered "You got something, right?"
I turn to look at him "We need that missing eye John and it's here somewhere. If this person took it and left those written words, it wouldn't be fun for them, don't you think?" The missing and the fake eye are key clues to this case. He sighed and threw his head back.
"Alright people Detective Santos want's this house search from top to bottom, you'll be looking for an eye take as many photos of every corner and send them to us. Max here would take the body, we need the cards bagged up, and the wall..." He stopped and looked at me.
I spooked up" I need photography's of the wall and the blood to be tested." They all repeated "Alright" and began to work.
Max came up to me with the eye in the bag." There seems to me something written on the eye, but I can't get a clear look at it. I'll get my people to exam the eye and I'll do everything I can with the body, I'll get back to you." He turned and walked to the body giving people orders.
"Jesus, little guy is just like you Annalise; bossy as hell and with an attitude." He says while we walk to the car
"You think? I find myself really kind hearted and nowhere near bossy." I said feeling proud of myself.
"Yeah right, who the hell is that girl, no Annalise I know." He said while opening the door car. We ride in silent both lost in thought, who the hell is this person? Why are they doing this? I thought of the written words and cards. "Eyes see souls. Can you see mine?" That son of a bitch.
