Zara's POV

I sat in our elegant bedroom, the faint hum of the city filtering through the partially open windows. I was lost in thought, thinking about the trip Vittorio's parents suggested.

Sofia had given us tickets for a trip to Paris for our honeymoon. There wasn't supposed to be any honeymoon but I couldn't get myself to deny her in front of everyone. So Vittorio's reply helped me from that situation and I'm very thankful for that.

But after considering what Vittorio said last night, "Think of it as an opportunity," Vittorio had said last night, his voice gentle but firm. "A chance for us to get to know each other."

His words echoed in my mind now, as I considered the possibility of this trip. I am thinking of saying yes to this trip, as he said I don't think it will be a bad decision to go to Paris with him. We can't just stay with each other like a stranger under the same roof, that too without knowing each other.

On top of that the tickets are for Paris, my dream destination to go to. Paris-the city known for love and beauty-was exciting but also made me nervous.

🌟

It had been nearly two months since our paths had crossed for business, and in that time, our relationship had evolved in ways I never anticipated. From business partners to husband and wife, the transition had been anything but smooth. Yet, through it all, Vittorio had shown a commitment to making this work. I have seen him putting effort from starting till now to make this work, to make me comfortable.

In the novels I had read, Mafia bosses were depicted as ruthless, cold, and unyielding. But Vittorio defied those stereotypes. He was caring, patient, and surprisingly cool-headed. There had been moments when my heart had raced because of him, like during the vermillion ceremony, when his touch had sent shivers down my spine. I never in my dreams thought of a Mafia boss putting effort like him and being this cool-headed.

I also know this marriage is not like any other marriage but that doesn't mean I can't put effort like him to make this work, I can because, Firstly, I don't have any plans on getting married again. Secondly, Where will I get this handsome and caring husband? So why not give this a genuine try?

I'm so confused. Feeling the need for clarity, I reached for my phone and dialed Mia's number. She always knew how to make things seem clearer.

"Mia, guess what?" I said as soon as she answered my call.

"What? Don't tell me Vittorio confessed his love for you or he agreed to let you run the family business?" She said, not said but screamed.

"No! Idiot. Sofia gave us tickets for Paris as a gift for our honeymoon." I said.

"Oh my fucking god!! You are going on a fucking Honeymoon with Vittorio!!" She again screamed getting excited. She is gonna make me deaf one day.

"I haven't said anything to him yet," I replied,

"What?" She said.

"I just said, how can we go on a honeymoon given our relationship," I added and waited for her to say something. I thought she disconnected when I didn't hear anything from her but then she again screamed.

"WHAT!! MY DEAR, THIS WAS YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE SOMETHING WITH HIM AND YOU DID THIS!" She added after calming down, "I know I was having doubts about this marriage but those thoughts went away when I saw Vittorio's eyes when he looked at you at the wedding. So, just try to give it a chance at least."

I sighed, feeling the weight of her words. "He did say we should think of it as a trip to get to know each other better. And I do want to see Paris."

"Thank God! One of you used the thing god has given to human beings for thinking." She said with sarcasm and then added "So what is your plan? You are going or not?"
