The Bassline for a Bonanza

The sounds of silence

They stepped through the large doorway and into the crystal castle. The shiny floors were almost slippery, and one could see their reflection in them as well as the walls. The castle's interior was strange but in a beautiful way. The two monsters who greeted them there were equally strange, but Taffy couldn't tell if they were also equally beautiful or not.

The monsters were tall compared to the three. One had four arms, four wings, four ears, three eyes, and a huge fluffy tail that drug on the floor behind it. It also sported huge avian talons on every paw. The second monster was slightly shorter, though still rather tall. It also had four arms, but that was where the similarities ended. It had only two eyes and a small nubish tail. Though its most noticeable features were its seemingly crystal like horns and spines down its back. It held two long crystal rods by its sides. They seemed to be its instruments.

The winged monster stepped forward first and began.

"You have returned! And we see you've found your brother, how delightful!" She chirped cheerfully. "Taffy, right?"

Taffy failed to respond as he hardly heard himself being addressed. He just stared at the two with a blank expression. Only the tiniest hint of admiration sparkled in his eyes.

She chuckled. "Yes, your brothers gave the same reaction. I am Euphoria. This is my lovely partner, Inertia!" She said as she affectionately rubbed her head under the others. The two gave a kinda 'just got married and are currently inseparable' vibe.

Taffy rubbed his eyes before looking back to them and responding. "Oh uh, it's a pleasure to meet you two..."

Inertia grinned and stepped forward. "The pleasure is ours. We are grateful for your company. You are welcome to explore and interact as much as you please until you find your way home."

"Thanks..?" Taffy replied in a timid manner. Inertia and Euphoria made him feel weary. This whole island did that to him, actually. "So this is Crystal Island? And... BridgeSpace?"

Euphoria nods. "We will explain everything to you later, but first, you have some injuries we must tend to."

"Wait, how did you kn-" Inertia cut him off. "I will take care of you. Follow closely." They commanded before turning and rushing out the room. Taffy hesitated but soon followed them. In the meantime, Euphoria took Rizz and Tappa Tappa to a room they could call their own for the time being.

They were led to a large room with an already made bed. It must have been prepared while Rizz and Tappa were looking for Taffy again. They seemed so excited to have guests. Though that was understandable, seeing as there didn't seem to be any other monsters here. Rizz sat on the bed before throwing himself back. He sunk into it and gave a comforted sigh.

"Tired?" Euphoria cooed as she perched on the crystal bedframe and looked down at him before taking a pause as she noticed his bangs had fallen back, revealing his emerald green eyes.

"I wasn't until I felt this bed." Rizz giggled.

Moments later, Taffy and Inertia came in. Taffy had no bandages or anything of the sorts, so it seems he just got some painkillers for his injuries.

Tappa Tappa was looking around the room. He couldn't find anything interesting there, however, so he instead took a look through the window. The view was gorgeous, but it also seemed lonely. There was still no sign of any other monsters on this island. Tappa stared at the scenery for a moment before finally deciding to question the lack of life here. He turned and made his way to the bed where Rizz and Euphoria were... play fighting? Whatever, it never hurts to be childish for a little bit.

"Euphoria?" Tappa tapped a claw on her back to grab her attention. She looked back at him with a curious head tilt. "Yes, little poewk?"

"I was just wondering... are you and Inertia the only monsters here?"

Euphoria paused, then chuckled. "No, we are not. Come, let us show you something."

Inertia and Euphoria left the room, and the others quickly followed out of curiosity. They went down deep into the castle and to a large door that Euphoria had to fly up and open. The room was dark, but when a light was turned on, the three wublins froze in a mixture of shock, confusion, and, for Rizz, ecstacy. There, in the middle of the room, sat the last thing they were expecting to see there.

Taffy stepped towards it. "That's a... That's a wubbox!? How???"

Euphoria flew over to the pink and white inactive wubbox. She landed on top of it and sat like a critter with her top set of hands held to her chest. She wore a proud smile.

"Yes, a wubbox. Much like the one who created you. However, this one was not made by Galvana. Inertia and I made him to fill our empty island. He is my most prized possession. Isn't he gorgeous?"

"Uh... Yeah, he's really something... very... pink and sparkly." Taffy replied, not meaning to sound like he was mocking it for looking kind of sissy.

Rizz dashed to the large box to get a better look at it. "Is it real? Like... can you wake it up?" He asked, to which Inertia replied. "Yes. He wakes every morning and rests like this every night. He has been inactive today so that we could repair his core."

"Can we meet him?" Tappa asked. Rizz started hopping excitedly. "Can you wake him up now!?" The two crystal elementals chuckled in unison at the wublins' interest in meeting their wubbox.

"Tomorrow. He is still in need of repairs. You three should get settled in now." Euphoria started before Inertia continued. "Feel free to explore our castle. In the meantime, my partner and I will prepare dinner."

"Aww, alright." Rizz whined a little as they refused to wake up their wubbox at the moment. Then he and his brothers went back to the room Euphoria and Inertia had readied for them.

"Can you guys believe they made a wubbox? One that works??" Rizz asked rhetorically as he crawled onto the soft bed. Taffy sat next to him.

"Even though I saw it myself... no. That makes no sense! Only supernaturals can use the spark of life... right?" Taffy turned to Tappa for his input.

"Well, as far as we know, only Galvana and wubbox's can use it. But these new elements could have that kind of power, too. We still know hardly anything about them."

"No way! Even us wublins don't have it. Why would they? They probably don't. That's probably why they won't wake it up! I mean-" Taffy paused as he turned to see his brothers staring with a look of annoyance. "What?" "You're being insecure again, and you're taking it out on them..." Rizz sighed. "Insecure!? Im not being insecure! You mean about not being able to use the spark of life myself? You're crazy!" Taffy huffed before rolling over so his back was facing them. Rizz and Tappa exchanged looks and then decided it wasn't the right time to get into it.

After some time, Inertia came and led them to the castles dining hall. They had dinner, and the crystal elementals explained more about their home and how it wasn't always so quiet and lonely. Then everyone went to sleep. Rizz and Taffy claimed the bed while Tappa Tappa slept on a large pillow beside the bed, though he was equally comfortable there.

Crystal Island fell into a lonely silence once more.
