Gintoki sighed as she looked out the window. She'd been sitting here for half an hour, and already she could feel herself losing interest in the class. It was a maths class, too, which didn't make things better. She could do sums and divisions, add and subtract, what else could she need more? Really, maths classes were useless, she was certain of it.
She was taken out of her reverie by the sound of her desk cracking, her teacher's closed fist in the middle of her unopened exercise book. Gintoki almost fell out of her seat, startled. She should have been used to Otose Sensei's methods by now, but she forgot each time.
'Oï, brat, listen to my class or get out, understood?' The teacher screamed in her ear, and Gintoki nodded, cringing away.
'Didn't hear you, brat.' Otose-san insisted.
'Yes, Miss.' She answered sullenly.
She was forced to pretend to listen to the rest of the class, to pay attention to numbers she already knew, and formulas she would never bother to remember. Thankfully for her, though, maths was her last class of the day, and she rushed out of the classroom the minute the bell rang.
She didn't run far, slowing down the minute she was out of the teacher's sight, casually walking down the stairs to the lockers in the entrance hall. She grabbed her boots, putting them on, one arm propped against the locker to keep herself upright.
Once done, she walked outside, stretching her arms over her head, waiting for the straggler. The latter finally arrived, sighing once he caught sight of Gintoki.
'You should pay more attention in class, Gintoki. Otose-Sensei won't always just hit the desk if you keep this up.' Katsura said, pushing his glasses up.
'Yeah yeah, change the record, Zura, you're going to scratch it.' Gintoki answered, leaving the school's entrance, her arms still in the air. She felt the fabric of her shirt pull against her taunt back muscles, and didn't miss the barely concealed look Zura sent her.
It started a few weeks ago, the looks, the change of behaviour around her. Gintoki wasn't stupid, and she was a high-schooler as well, she was quick to understand what was wrong with Zura. Well, it would be more accurate to qualify it as "what had changed", actually.
Zura, the complete airhead, the inexplicable class president, one of her first friends, had a crush on her. Gintoki wasn't quite sure when it had started, actually, but she'd noticed it a month ago. It'd been at a party with their other classmates, in the house of Gintoki's best friend AND enemy, Hijikata.
Sougo had insisted upon playing all together, and unexpectedly, had suggested doing a spin the bottle. The sadist he was fully aware of how wrong the game could turn with a room full of teenagers with raging hormones. The party had ended with a newly formed couple, a girl crying, and two boys sporting a brand new black eye. And the realisation for Gintoki that Katsura had a crush on her. Which was, quite frankly, unexpected.
She'd caught it when the bottle stopped right between her and Zura sitting side by side, and Kondou saying 'Well, since it landed between the two of you, let's forget the other end, just kiss each other!'
Gintoki had shrugged, not really bothered by the idea. But Katsura had recoiled, cheeks turning pink, as he flusteredly shook his arms in front of him, mumbling about how he couldn't kiss Gintoki. The silver-haired teen had raised a brow, surprised by Zura's reaction, eyes studying his face and his body language. He'd sighed, turning towards Kondou.
