The Next Day
Maki woke up with her head throbbing in pain. She sat up and lean her back against the head of her bed. Massaging her head solemnly.
"Fuck." Maki grunts after awhile when the pain she's feeling is not going away.
Her attention falls towards her bedside table, on top of it lay a piece of medicine and a water beside it. Maki can tell that it's a painkiller by the looks of it. She urge her body forward and take the pill, eager to make the pain go away. Maki noticed a note together with the pill.
'Didn't bother waking you up, here's a pill para sa lasenggera kong kapatid<3'
A smile made its way onto Maki's lips before she settles back to the bed and rest for a minute until she feels a little bit better. Her phone buzzed, making her to stand up and look for it, it took another buzz for her to finally found it. It was under her bed.
'why the heck she's there' Maki thought to herself.
When her headache subsided, she got up and started getting ready. After an hour and a half, she's finally done and is ready to go. She made sure that their house is locked and is well-secured before she made her way on to her workplace. Upon arriving on her office floor, she went to her cubicle, starts her computer and type away her letter of resignation. It took her almost a minute nonetheless to finish it then she printed it right away.
She hold on tight to the paper she just printed and took a breath before she enter her Boss's office. Maki found the older girl typing away on her computer, realizing that she forgot to knock, Maki cleared her throat and Cielo immediately look up to the younger girl.
"Where were you yesterday?" was the first thing Cielo asked her.
Not knowing what to answer, Maki sheepishly smile and rubbed her elbow, finding it hard to look at the older girl straight in the eye.
"I...uh. Ano.." Maki was indeed, stuttering.
"Ano?" Cielo pressed, wanting to know what the latter wanted to say. Maki feeling the pressure building in the pit of her stomach, she swiftly lowered her head and started saying,
"I'm sorry! I didn't know na si Ms. Villanueva ay yung Jade Villanueva pala na bagong Host Anchor ng GINS Network. I will understand, if you want to fire me. So here..." Maki lay her resignation paper on top of Cielo's table.
The latter didn't react and stay seated on her swivel chair, Maki feels the four-walled room suddenly shrink suffocating her with nothing but silence as she waits for the older girl's response. Cielo look at the paper and back to her secretary.
"Ano yan?" Her right brow perking up.
"Resignation paper." Maki answers.
"And?" Tanong ni Cielo, dahilan para mapa-kunot ng noo si Maki.
"What do you mean 'And?' resignation letter nga, malamang mag re-resign." Maki said.
"And why are you resigning?" Paglilinaw ni Cielo sa dalaga, napataas ng kilay si Maki sa tanong ng kaniyang Boss.
"Is it because of what happened yesterday?" Cielo asked and the younger woman nodded her head.
"Hindi ba kaya mo ako pinatawag kasi gusto mo akong sisantehin, kasi kung ano ano ang pinagsasabi ko dun sa News Anchor? Kaya ayan inunahan na kita." Maki said, unsure.
"What? No." her Boss said bluntly.
"Eh bakit mo ko pinatawag dito?" Takang tanong ni Maki dito.
