The grand dining room was filled with the vibrant chatter of two clans: L/N and the Gojo Clan. The occasion was special, celebrating Y/N's upcoming enrollment at Jujutsu Tech. The table was a display of culinary delights, and the atmosphere was charged with anticipation and pride.
Y/N sat quietly, her thoughts drifting far from the lively discussions around her. She was still boiling with anger at Satoru who was the one who brought her into this situation.
"Y/N," her father's voice broke through her reverie, snapping her back to the present. She blinked, refocusing on her father's concerned and slightly frustrated expression. "Are you tuning everyone out?"
"Uh, sorry," she muttered, trying to shake off her distraction. "What did you say?"
Her father's eyes softened slightly, but his voice remained firm. "This is an important discussion about your future. You need to be present."
Before Y/N could respond, her older sister, Chiyo butted in. "Typical Y/N, always in her own world. Maybe Jujutsu Tech will finally teach you some discipline." She says earning a glare from Satoru.
Y/N felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment, but before she could retort, her younger brother jumped in, trying to defuse the tension. Leaning over with a mischievous grin, he said, "Tune this out!" Then he burped loudly right in her face.
The room fell into stunned silence, everyone processing what had just happened. Y/N slowly turned her head to face him and Y/N's father's face turned red with anger. He opened his mouth to scold her brother. But before he could speak, Y/N's youngest sister, Akemi, picked up a spoonful of mashed potatoes and hurled it at her brother.
"Don't bother Y/N!" she shouted.
The mashed potatoes hit their target, splattering across her brother's face. For a moment, there was utter silence. Then, laughter erupted from Satoru earning him glares from the elders.
"Enough!" one of the elders finally commanded their voice a mix of sternness and reluctant amusement. "Let's restore some order here."
The laughter from him died down, and everyone returned to their seats, still grinning. Y/N's older sister shot her a look of disdain, while her younger sister, leaned over to whisper in Y/N's ear.
"You'll do great at Jujutsu Tech," she said softly, giving Y/N' a reassuring smile.
Y/N nodded, returning to her meal feeling all eyes on her.
As the meal continued, her father addressed her again, his voice calm but firm. "Y/N, this is a crucial step for you. You must focus and prepare yourself for what lies ahead."
Y/N took a deep breath, nodding slowly. "Okay." She says playing around with her food.
The rest of the dinner passed in relative peace, though the earlier chaos left a lingering energy in the air. Y/N couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal and the weight of the expectations placed upon her. She glanced across the table at Satoru, who was avoiding her gaze, and the anger flared up again.
Once the meal concluded, the parents sent all the children to a separate room to give the adults space to discuss more serious matters. As Y/N stood to leave, she felt her youngest sister tug at her sleeve.
"I'm sorry about the food fight," she whispered, her eyes wide and earnest.
Y/N smiled, ruffling her sister's hair. "It's okay. Took the attention off of me for a minute." She says picking her up watching the Gojo clan leave.
"Wave to them," She says noticing Satoru's not in the crowd with everyone else.
Scanning the room, she felt a mix of irritation and curiosity. Just as she was about to give up, Satoru appeared seemingly out of nowhere, his signature smirk firmly in place. Before she could react, he swooped in and scooped up her sister, twirling her around in an exaggerated hug.
"Goodbye, little one!" he exclaimed, grinning. Y/N crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at him, annoyed that he knew exactly how to push her buttons.
Her sister giggled, enjoying the attention, while Y/N stood there, trying to suppress her frustration. Satoru met Y/N's gaze, eyes twinkling mischievously. "What's the matter? Still mad at me?"
Y/N huffed, rolling her eyes. "I'm not in the mood, Satoru."
"Come on, don't be like that," he teased, still holding her sister. "We're going to have so much fun at Jujutsu Tech!"
Y/N glared at him, the reminder of their earlier argument making her bristle. "You mean, where you'll keep reporting everything I do to my dad?"
Her sister looked between them, sensing the tension. Satoru gently put her down, ruffling her hair. "You know it's for your own good, right?"
Y/N bit back a retort, her sister tugging at her arm. "Let's go, Y/N! I'm tired." She says trying to keep Y/N from getting more annoyed.
Satoru leaned in closer, lowering his voice. "Don't let this ruin your night. We'll figure it out." He says hugging her side.
She turned away, picking up her sister again, who waved one last time. "Yeah, whatever."
As they walked away, Y/N felt Satoru's gaze on her back, knowing he'd get under her skin again.
Before she can leave with her sister, Y/N hears him call out her name. "Y/N wait!" She turns to see him still standing there, his expression a mix of playful charm and something more earnest beneath the surface. Despite her resolve to keep her distance, she hesitates, her sister tugging at her collar.
"Y/N, aren't you forgetting something?" Satoru asks smirking.
Y/N pauses, torn between irritation and curiosity. She looks back at Gojo, meeting his gaze with a guarded expression. "I'm leaving, Satoru."
He steps closer, his presence commanding attention. "Is that any way to say goodbye?" His tone is light, but there's a hint of challenge in his eyes.
Her sister tugs at her collar again, urging her to move on, but Y/N remains rooted in place, caught in Gojo's magnetic presence. "What do you want, Satoru?" she asks.
A smile quirks at the corner of his lips. "Just a goodnight for someone who's looking forward to seeing you at Jujutsu Tech."
Y/N's brow furrows slightly. "You act as if I have a choice in the matter." She says walking away with her sister
"Just remember," he calls after her, his voice carrying a teasing edge, "I expect a proper goodbye next time."
Y/N doesn't respond, but the faintest hint of a frown tugs at her lips as she walks away with her sister, Gojo's words lingering in her mind.
