Hi again! :) I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday filled with relaxation. This is the longest chapter yet, and I've attempted to pull in more from the original plot as well as complete the scene without any cliffhangers. Enjoy.Xoxo,
MangoSandPenguinoSCh.3: Sudden Dying Love
*********"Elijah" I asked, confused, as he now held me in his arms twirling to the Ed Sheeran song.
He smiled, "Ms. Blake, I wanted to formally apologize for my disruption earlier to your evening, and as for the dance it is customary to change partners during the waltz, is it not?"
I grinned at his words, his charming manner was striking but no match to what I had put up with. Most would swoon at his chivalry yet all I wanted was to strangle him before I kissed—
WAIT What?!? Did I just? Yeah we're gonna forget that? I'm just glad he can't know what I'm thinking.
Anyways, I refocus on our conversation as he spins me for the first time.
"Hello again Elijah, and while it's nice to see chivalry is far from dead, the apology is not necessary it was just as much my fault as your own, and please just Luna."
He chuckles, "Well how about you make it up to me by getting coffee with me tomorrow,"
We both pause at his forward suggestion, as I feel a burn of emotion creep up my throat as my checks reddened.
"What I meant was.. to make up for bumping into me, we can talk over a cup of coffee."
He smiles, letting out a heavy breath as I continue to listen as he holds me close and he twists me for the final time.
" And I can get to know the woman who has more interesting things going on in her head than in a conversation with anyone."I blink at his blunt statement before I throw my head back and let out a genuine laugh. I don't think someone's ever been able to read me so quickly before. My respect for this man shot up as he continued to be brutally honest. I could not help but want to spend more time dancing with him as he made me feel something no other man ever could, and that scared me. Not even Eli, throughout his clever remarks and kind comments, had made me feel so challenged. I loved thinking of the thrill, but as my eyes scanned across the room in thought, my brown hues met Hayley's green, and I had to remind myself that he had a date. He was with someone. How could I be so stupid to believe he'd want to be with me. He's probably just being friendly to make up for bumping into me.
I looked up at him, vulnerability shone throughout my eyes like the starlight gleeming through the window of the Mikealson Compound.
"But what about Hayley?"
He opened him mouth to respond, but nothing came out and before he could begin to say a word, the music ceased and clapping began to sound throughout the decorated room. I pulled my hand from his grasp as I thought of the rejection, I smiled at him with an acceptation of an answer he did not have to give. I turned away and began walking towards Maeve who waited for me by the stairs as the night commenced. He called my name but I did not turn back, as all I heard was the piercing sound of my heart beat as blood pumped through my veins. I turned as I reached the stairs and met his eyes one last time, before I was pulled away into the night. And all I remember as I fell asleep is the look of longing and regret, I could not forget, from those damn chocolate brown hues.

Elijah's point of view
Two hours after the rehearsal commenced. Her eyes.. I couldn't get them out of my head, they were the brightest shade of bourbon that shone when she looked at me. They'd sparkle with so many expressions' that I could not be pinpoint on her face, and I wanted to know what she was thinking. I yearned to know.
