"Louis, babe, c'mon. We're leaving in five minutes, we haven't got all day!" Jay, Louis' mum, yells from downstairs.

"I'm coming!" Louis shouts back as he buttons the last button of his navy blue collared (and slightly wrinkled) shirt.

He runs his fingers through his fringe (he was too lazy to put in a quiff) before huffing and grabbing his phone, jogging down the stairs. He doesn't even want to go to the stupid "4th of July Party" his Mom's cousin brothers daughter was throwing...or was it the other way around? It's complicated, really.

He had planned to spend the night in his bed, under his freshly washed covers, while watching the new season of American Horror Story. The last thing he wanted to do was go out and, he cringes even thinking about it, socializing. Blegh.

"God, there you are. Even I was ready before you," his sister, Lottie, says not even a second after he has reached the last step, her tan cheeks bronzed, and her eyelashes long and black.

"Oh shut up. Don't you have a boy to send nudes to or something?" He says, not really in the mood to argue with his sister. He knows it's a lame comeback, but he's already being forced to go to a party he really doesn't want to go to and he really just doesn't want to deal with anything right now.

She smirks, "At least I have a boy to send nudes to. Can't same the same for you."

He narrows his eyes at her and opens his mouth to reply but closes it with a snap of his teeth. She kind of had a point.

"I thought I had left the babies with your grandma, didn't know I had forgot to drop off two of them," Louis' mom says, rolling her eyes.

Louis and Lottie just look at each other. Jay sighs, "Just please get in the car. We're going to be late."

Lottie rolls her eyes (a habit that she gets from her mom) and bumps into Louis' shoulder purposefully as she walks out to the garage. Louis mumbles, "Stupid cow," before remembering that he never called shotgun. He runs out to the car and yells, "I CALL SHOTGUN!" but it's too late, Lottie is already in the passenger seat. Clicking her seat belt, she looks at him through the open window. "Sorry, what? Didn't hear that."

Louis glances to see if his mom is looking (she's not) and gives her the middle finger. Pouting, he gets into the back of the car and kicks Lottie's seat from the back, just for good measure before putting on his earphones and listening to music as his mum drove.

The place where the party was going to be at was a good 20 minute drive which he secretly enjoyed. He loved long car rides.

Once they finally got there, he forces himself to turn of his phone and put a smile on his face. It's not that he doesn't love his family, because he does, but he just doesn't feel like being around a bunch of fireworks and annoying little kids and being outside to be eaten alive by mosquitoes.

Jay had to park on the curb since there were so many other cars already in their yard. They get out and make their way to the party where there's a bunch of people sitting at tables, someone grilling sausages and burgers, a jump house full of kids already, and really loud music. They're instantly bombarded with greetings and hugs. He's hugging his Aunt Sandra when he spots him getting some punch. He immediately goes tense and averts his eyes.
