"What a loser!" They yell as they walk past laughing. "A stupid girl like her begging for money? Hilarious!"

I cock my head to the left where I see girls walking by, laughing and pointing at me. My face flushes with embarrassment as my cheeks turn red. Fuck. This time I swore I wouldn't let anyone see me beg.

I was alone in the Leaf village. I never had a family, or anyone to support me, so I would be stuck out on the streets where the shops would be filled with people, and I'd try my best to get something out of them. Some days I'd go with nothing and others, I would have the luck to get a few dollars. It wasn't much. But if I saved for a few days I could afford food.

I used to be supported by a childrens orphanage where they would feed me, but it's been half a year since i've turned 18 and they've let me go since then. They say you're adult now, and should find a job, or a husband even. You know, what every woman needs to live a fulfilled life.

The girls laughed and pointed as they walked away. I looked back at the face of the vendor and tears filled my eyes. "I'm sorry..." I trembled as my hands cupped my face. I felt bad, I didn't want to make him pity me to the point that he would give me something. But at this point, it's been over a week with little to no food, solely surviving off water. My arms were thin and my legs were weak. I needed something to keep going.

The vendor sighs. "Take this," He says as he reaches out his palm, and in it sits an eye. A red eye. One with tiny marks on it. What the hell is this?

I sigh from the failure of being able to retrieve any food or money, and I accept the eye anyway. He proceeds to thank me, multiple times, making me confused. "Thank you, you don't know how much this means to me!" He says holding his hands together praising me. Weird. Ignoring it, I leave. I walk down the street watching the lights go out in the shops, the crowds of people slowly diminishing. The sky is getting dark, and I know that now I need to wait until morning to try again to get food.

It's summer, so the nights aren't that cold. They're mildly chilly, but it's enough that if you wrap yourself up in a blanket you could get by without getting any sickness. I don't have a blanket, nor a bed, so I sleep in the forest where the leaves fall. I slowly make way out of the town where I reach the forest. It's quiet and all I can hear are the sounds of my steps and my breathing. Like every night.

I pick a random tree, and slide down where I come to an uncomfortable sitting position. I pull the eye out of my sleeve, and look at it for a moment. Why this? And why thank me for taking it? My thoughts wander off into the darkness as I feel myself coming to the brink of sleep. The moonlight reaches over my body, glowing the eye that sat in my hand. Hm. Interesting.

Crunch.

My body raises itself up in shock. My eyes felt heavy from my tiredness, but this was the first time I've heard the sound of something else in the forest with me. I could feel something wasn't right, and it wasn't just a rabbit or a wolf. It was something or someone else.
Without moving any more, I hold my breath and stay in my exact position. My body was surrounded by leaves, and any wrong move and my position would be exposed.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Footsteps. It's footsteps.

Crunch.

Crunch.

The walking stopped, and the last sound of the steps seemed to be louder and closer to me. Almost like it was coming from behind me.

"Stand up." Says a dark and deep voice.

I stand up fast and swiftly, my knees trembling in fear. Instead of staying still, I run, as fast as I can down the path in the forest, not taking a second to look behind me.

"Pointless." The same voice says, except this time it was right beside my ear. I felt my body freeze and for a moment it felt like time had come to a complete stop. My mouth became dry and I was panting like a damn dog. How did they catch up that fast? How did they manage to get beside me without making a single noise?

"Give me it." The voice says sternly. I could see from the corner of my eye a figure that stood beside me but I chose to avoid eye contact. "Give?... G-give you what?" I trembled. An arm reaches up and grabs my wrist, pointing it downwards, the eye that hid up my sleeve falling out. "T-this is what you're looking for?!" I say hesitantly. "Take it!" I yell as I look up to their eyes as I try to release their grip of my wrist.

Red. Red beaming eyes. The same as the eye I was given. He wore a cloak that had red clouds on it and covered partially half of his face. I felt myself beginning to sweat as he glared into my eyes, not taking a moment to look at what had fell on the ground.

"There! You can have it! Please, let me go!" I cry out as I continue to tug on my arm. He closes his eyes and shakes his head. He reaches an arm down and picks up the eye, closing it in his hand which then disappears. "W-who are you?!" I ask concerned.

Suddenly, he looks out into the sky. "Got it." He says as he nods. "Stay here or I will kill you." He looks back at me with his red eyes which I knew I couldn't take a chance to escape. He lets go of the grip on my wrist and I rub the mark he left with my fingers, trying to sooth it. Who was he talking to?

He takes a few steps forwards looking into the distance of the forest and raises his hands to make a sign.

A shinobi?

Suddenly, the appearance of other people appear through what seems to be holograms. All of them share a common ground, they all wear the same cloak as eachother, black with red clouds. Was this some sort of group?

"Itachi. Have you done your task?" Says a voice coming from a hologram of a man with purple eyes. He nods. "I'm an Uchiha. Only I out of us all could locate the missing sharingan eye." I look over to him. So his eyes are a... sharingan? And his name is... Itachi Uchiha?
"Good. Then you have completed your task." Says the same voice. "Now, of Konan..."

"Who cares about Konan! She's a waste. She's been gone for a month on a stupid mission that could have been solved by anyone else of us here!" Says a different voice, coming from a guy that has pink eyes and slicked back hair. "What if we use this precious girl you have here, Itachi?"

They all look towards me.

Question:

I have always written in first person pov, but from analyzing other fanfics I tend to see its third person a lot. Do you guys prefer 1st or 3rd? I'll be using this info for my next fanfics.

Sorry this first one was short, I plan on releasing longer chapters once I get people to begin reading :) The second chapter is almost complete and I can't wait to release it.
