Ji-soo and Jae-heon had decided to go. You and Hyun-su had also asked to accompany them, to which Ji-soo had positively replied. Before taking your leave, you had asked Mr. Han to make you a weapon out of your chef's knife, and he had crafted something similar to Hyun-su's weapon: a knife taser that looked badass in your opinion.
With hesitancy and care, you followed Jae-heon and Hyun-su. Coming across a dead body, Ji-soo examined it, pronouncing it as recently deceased.
"After you," Hyun-su said quietly to you when the four of you resumed your walk to the first floor. You had just turned your back to him when a gust of wind almost knocked you over. You quickly held onto the railing and regained your balance. You gasped loudly when Hyun-su's body collided with yours, making the two of you fall over the railing. Due to the collision, you fell on a different floor than him, a floor above his fall. Your head hit the ground first, causing immediate lightheadedness and loss of consciousness, but you swore you had heard a blood-curdling scream on the floor below yours before your body gave out.
You awoke to a summer's Sunday noon. A similar one to the day which had changed your entire life. You looked around to see you were standing in the garden beside the bamboo set up. You sighed deeply, exhausted. Walking further and inside your home, you subconsciously took a tour around, recollecting the memories with your grandparents.
You stopped in front of the mirror in your room and took a good look at yourself. A clean and well-dressed Y/N with a terrifying set of eyes — two black orbs filled the space where your eyeballs should have been. You came closer to the mirror to examine yourself better.
The closer you moved, the more evil you started to feel. You felt like you were evil. As if the evil was within you rather than a separate consciousness you had been fighting against for months.
"Hey," you heard a new voice in your head. It wasn't your evil self, it was a male voice, deep and concerned. You figured someone had found you on the floor you had fallen. As the person shook you, your dream crumbled down and you stood amidst a dark abyss.
"Wake up," the voice whispered, still shaking your body.
You woke up in a pool of your blood and sighed with relief — you were alive... somehow.
"Oof, I thought you were dead," the guy breathed out in relief.
"Hey you're that ex-med student guy," You pointed at him in recognition. You didn't remember his name though, Lee-something, was it? He nodded once and slipped his arm around your waist, lifting you gently off the ground. You stood up, one hand wrapped around his shoulders, and felt dizzy due to the motion. You gripped the hem of his T-shirt and stabilized yourself.
"You seem to have lost a lot of blood, miss," he tells you while you both walk downstairs to the first floor — the safe one. "I'm surprised how you're still alive." He remarked looking slightly amused.
"I'm too," You mumbled. Your voice is still groggy. How long were you out for? "Hey, what time is it?" You asked quietly. You were now walking away from the blood spill and downstairs to the first floor. The two of you were as quiet as you possibly could be. Once you were steady enough, the Lee-something guy let go of your waist and held you by your shoulders instead.
"It's almost night," He replied, also quietly. "I believe you'd need first aid after such a fall...?" His statement ended in a question, as if he was suspicious about something. You looked at him and felt your skull through your bloody hair: all healed, no cracks. Of course. What were you expecting? You shook your head, denying his help. "Unless you are already healed?" He said, his voice deep. Was it so easy to catch on to? You shook your head again.
"No, it- it still hurts and I don't want someone else to touch me." You made up a terrible lie. You prayed he wouldn't detect that. He looked at you for a stretched second and turned around to keep walking with you.
"If you are already healed, you need to let everyone know. Don't be selfish." He simply warned you but there wasn't a speck of blame. You nodded and walked beside him. Guilt kept washing over you from time to time like waves crashing on the beach but you pushed it away every time. You needed to be selfish to survive; wasn't that what everyone was doing anyways?
