SCENE: TWENTY EIGHTH FLOOR OF HOTEL ROOM, SEOUL
TIME: APRIL 22ND, 11:07 AM
Tae-ri: So this is the huge library you were talking about?
God of afterlife: Feel free to pick any book that interests you.
Tae-ri: How many books do you read a day?
God of afterlife: I am not much of a reader. It's my brother's safe place.
Tae-ri: That's quite contrary to his annoying personality.
God of afterlife: Hmm...When we were young, he used to get bullied a lot. He was always referred to as my shadow, I doubt anyone bothered to ask what his name was. He always got scolded by my parents for not being good enough. He never hated me though, nor did he want to replace me. I tried to break the common belief of people, but they were just so adamant, they missed to see the most resilient and courageous person standing right before their eyes. Circumstances brought him to become a sad and grumpy kid. He was very short tempered as well, until he met his beloved noona, the goddess of knowledge. He is probably embarrassed right now, of how much he clung to her back then. They were inseparable. She suggested him to read some books to ease out his emotions. He did exactly and his health has improved so much since. He is still grumpy, but he knows how to deal with it. He is self-reliant and doesn't like others interfering in his stuff. He has also developed a good sense of judgement of people which I totally rely on.
Tae-ri: He has grown up well...
God of afterlife:(smiles) He did.
Tae-ri: I have been curious....
God of afterlife: Speak.
Tae-ri: Do you gods not call each other by names?
God of afterlife: No one calls each other by names unless they are close friends, or family.
Tae-ri: That's a weird rule.
God of afterlife: It isn't a rule, but a matter of playing safe. Everyone has a pride in their title and accomplishments. To call someone by their title is to acknowledge it. Calling some by their name is equivalent to breaking all barriers of ego and pride between them. Hence I refrain to calling only certain people by their names, the same is reciprocated.
Tae-ri: Interesting...What if I call you by your actual name? Will it hurt your ego?
God of afterlife: With you it's not a matter of ego, but rather...
God of afterlife: Setting clear boundaries so I don't overstep what I shouldn't....
Tae-ri looks at him as she waits for him to complete, but her impatience overrules the silence.
Tae-ri: Continue..
Tae-ri: Why am I so nervous? My pulsation is increasing, what am I expecting to hear from him?
