'how much i meant to you,
meant it sincere back then
we had time to kill back then
you ain't a kid no more
we'll never be those kids again" - ivyIt was a crazy thought to think that you once knew Paige Bueckers better than anyone else had. Even now crazier considering the fact that she refused to speak to you. You've known her for years, well at least you did at some point.
You met through basketball, something you both shared a common passion for. Basketball was something that came so easily to you, like when everything else didn't make sense it was the one thing that did. You had scouts out for you since you were eleven and playing as a starter on the varsity team in middle school. With your talent and luck, you'd been offered a spot on Team USA's olympic basketball team in 2019.
You couldn't miss out on an once in a lifetime opportunity like this, so you did what anyone would and signed with them. You instantly clicked with the girls on the team and the chemistry was there on the court too. You had kind of formed a small group with some girls on the team such as Azzi Fudd, Hailey Van Lith, Caitlin Clark, and Paige Bueckers.
You already knew who Paige was before you'd even been introduced. How could you not? She had just started gaining a lot of recognition in Women's basketball and everyone was watching her. You were also from Iowa and her from Minnesota so you'd played against her before for travel teams.
While you were good friends with all the girls, you were always drawn into Paige.
You two had formed a close bond, one that you'd never had anything like. You had become each other's support systems and spent all the time in the world with each other.

━━You were on a straight adrenaline rush right now. Team USA had just won the FIBA U19 World Cup and you couldn't be happier. Paige was also labeled MVP of the tournament due to her performance.
It was currently 2am and normally you'd be asleep right now but you were barely tired. You also had Paige to keep you company, considering the energy she had she didn't look like she'd be sleeping anytime soon. You two were sharing a hotel room with Azzi and Cait, but they'd been knocked out for hours. You and Paige had been watching a random movie and whispering every now and then but you needed to get some energy out so you could sleep soon.
"We should go for a walk." You turn your head to Paige, who's propped up leaning against the headboard in your shared bed.
"What? Bro, it's literally past two," Paige furrows her eyebrows as she checks the time on her phone.
