Waking up suddenly, Flaky urgently patted the side of Flippy's bed. Missing. Her eyes darted around the dark room and settled them on a now open door. She hurriedly pulled the covers over her, setting a foot down on the cold floor.
Flaky made her way out, hoping to find him. She was concerned. She couldn't let herself rest, not unless he was okay and back in bed beside her.
He was probably 'sleep patrolling' again. She thought. He's been having the same, awful, reoccurring flashback/nightmare.
She didn't quite understand Flippy's PTSD but, she vowed to help him through it regardless.
Peeking around the corner, she heard sounds from the living room.
Startled by her fiancées figure standing in the dark, she jumped. Slipping on the sheets, she fell back flat on her butt with a yelp.
Flippy also startled rushed to turn around. Shaking his head, like he'd just been awoken "H-hon??" Flippy looked around and then down, noticing her. He hurriedly lent down to Flaky's aid. "Are you okay?" He said as he picked her up.
Accepting her fate, his gentle gesture, she responded with a stumbling "Oh, geez." She part whispered "I'm so sorry-I-I'm okay, I came out l-looking for you, are YOU alright?" She fixed the covers back over herself.
Squinting her crimson eyes in the darkness to meet his golden ones. He looked disheveled, pained, and tired.
He was having that nightmare again, her previous thoughts confirmed.
"I'm-..Okay, just," he stopped himself, he wasn't. She could tell he was upset he had worried her. Flaky enveloped him in an embrace. "I understand, come back to bed?" She looked up at him.
He sighed, relaxing. Agreeing to come back, the couple laid in bed together. He'd go back to sleep within his own time. While snuggling close to Flaky, drifting off to the sound of his beloved breathing.

Hello it's been a minute, I wrote this around 1-2am. The idea hit me like a bus, and I thought I GOTTA WRITE THIS. I originally wanted to include this in a book I've previously written, but I feel like it stands better on its own. I wanted readers to sort of build off of it and create new ideas. Idk, but stay safe y'all, hope you liked it..
