As I turn my head I see the long jacket first, and as my eyes continue to trail up all thats running through my mind is, oh fuck oh damn oh god oh damn. I make eye contact with him as his stride stops a comfortable distance away. "Oh, hi." I respond.
"Greetings and salutations."
I smile, keeping my legs from melting out from under me, "Is that your thing?"
"What do you mean?" He takes his hand out of his pocket and runs it through his hair, then puts it right back.
"The greetings thing, seemed like an instinct. Is that your trademark or something?"
"Well, I guess you could say that. And is that your thing?"
"What do you mean?"
He exhales a small laugh, holy damn, "Questioning strangers that you admire from afar?"
I cock an eyebrow, trying to rebute the flush running through my face, "I mean..."
"I'm just giving you grief. I notice we made eye contact, a few times more than usual today. Im JD."
"Y/n. And yeah," I laugh nervously, "I have been looking at you. Well, okay not like that but like-"
JD laughs, "If it's the truth I don't mind. Hope I'm not too forward but you're awfully pretty. I've only ever seen you in physics, where do you run off to?"
"Oh." Oh damn, help? "Uhm, not too forward at all," I laugh, "It's uh, it's my first week-ish here. I don't really...know people. Usually keep to myself. What's your excuse?"
"Guess I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time..." He smiles lightly, "We're actually in the same boat, I'm new too. Just moved here a month and a half back from Vegas...Nevada."
"Oh! Interesting." I swallow hard, my face heating.
"Where'd you blow in from?"
"Literally 3 hours away, Auburn."
He nods consideringly, "Ah, I see. So... You friends with the wicked witches, acquaintances maybe?"
"Who? Elmo, Oscar, and Big Bird? Uhm, hells to the no. I just met Martha today and all I could think was, 'She seems beaten down' now I see why. Little bitches."
JD spurts out a laugh, eyebrows raised in shock. He nods, "I like those nicknames, those are new. And Marthas your friend with the note right?"
"Seems you were looking just about the same amount." Why did I say that? "Yes, she is."
JD smirks, "Can't blame a guy for lookin'." He shrugs his arms up in defense. His body language seems tense, a little awkward. I like him.
I shrug and tilt my head in return, "Suppose not." We stand in silence for a few beats, his eyes studying me, mine swaying in every direction.
"So, got any plans for the day?" He asks suddenly.
"Uhm..." I respond, not sure on what to say. Does he want to hang out? "I mean not really. I have to do this stupid math assignment after school and then I was planning on just relaxing, watching a horror film maybe."
"Ah, you like horror?"
"Yeah! It's my favorite genre."
"Oh yeah?" He tilts his head, his eyebrow lifted. It's hot in this fucking hallway. "What's your favorite scary movie?"
"Okay Ghostface..." I say, praying to god he gets the reference, "Probably Scream. Or The Shining."
He laughs, "I see. Those are good...You ever seen IT?"
"Yeah! I love Tim Curry, you ever seen Rocky Horror Picture Show?"
"No, what's that?"
"Oh! It's like my favorite 'Halloween' type of movie! It's-" Suddenly the bell rings and everyone floods out of the lunch room to get to their next class. Buzzkill. JD Is still looking at me, waiting for me to explain this lowkey embarrassing movie of mine, "Uhm, it's honestly a lot to explain. Maybe I'll catch you another time, we can talk about...movies..." I say, awkwardly.
JD smiles, "Definitely, y/n. Maybe we can catch a flick sometime." He shoves his hands in his trench-coat and with a wink, he spins in the other direction on his heel and walks down the hall. What the fuck? Did I just basically get asked out on a date? Was that flirting? Is that hot piece of ass interested in me? My mind was swarming and replays of his perfectly messy hair and his curious brow flooded in with it. He really was fine as hell. I turn and walk down the long hallway to my locker to stow away Marthas things. Then make it back the opposite way to my english class.
The time went by slow, but quickly at the same time. My brain was occupied with questions such as: When would I see him again? Did I have food in my teeth? Am I awkward and off-putting? He seemed in a rush to leave, maybe he just wants to leave me hanging as an option? But I was also in a rush to leave...class was going to start, it's fine. But did I smell good? I could hardly focus on the assignment. I grabbed a piece of gum from my bag and popped it in my mouth. Maybe this will help me focus. Now if I see him again and he grabs me and kisses me, my breath will smell good. Oh, shut up! Focus. I take a deep breath, exhale, and begin to write on the sheet of paper I was given. After what felt like forever, the bell rang. I sighed, stuffed the assignment into my bag and left the classroom. I snaked past the huge crowd of kids shoving their way out of the school.
As I made it outside and down the stairs, I dug my cassette out of my bag and layed the headphones on my ears. I clicked in the (you can put any album here, this is just my choice!) Songs The Lord Taught Us album from The Cramps and began my short walk home. I was lucky enough to have my own car, but the school was close enough and the weather was nice enough, so I thought I could use the exercise and sun. I was officially out of school grounds when a black motorcycle cruised past me, the driver waved at me with a toothy grin. Theres genuinely no way. JD has a motorcycle too. This isn't a real person. I wave back with a flustered smile as he passes, revving the bike louder. I shake my head and laugh to myself, and continue my walk home.

I know The Heathers came out in '88 and half the movies I mentioned are 90's, but let's just say, for the sake of the plot. Everything matches up with the 80's theme, okay? Bless.
Thank you for reading =) <3
