“Jacob, you’re going to be late!”

The sound of his mother’s voice managed to awake him from his sleep (for once). He forced himself to sit up and get out of bed. He then dragged himself out of his room and stumbled down the stairs and into the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror whilst trying to tackle with the chestnut mat of hair that sat upon his head. Then he grabbed some hair gel and attempted to make it lie flat on his head. However once he moved his hand from his head his hair sprung back up again. Finally he gave up, got dressed and went downstairs.

When he got downstairs his mother was clearing up the breakfast plates and bowls. As he sat at the kitchen table his father placed a plate of egg and bacon in front of him.

‘Do you want me to drop you at school today Jacob?” his father said as he poured himself some coffee.

“sure, that would be great. Thanks”

Jacob sat waiting in his father’s Lotus. He looked out the front window of the car and through the net curtains of his living room window. Jacob could see his mother hugging his father in tears and she looked as if she was begging him to stay. Eventually he managed to calm her down a bit and he was soon out of sight of the window and walking towards the car. As soon as his father had shut the door Jacob’s mother was at the car window mouthing

“George please…” Frowning slightly his father rolled the car window down kissed her once more before backing out of the drive.
