People who suffer with BPD struggle deeply with self harm
Cutting,burning,hair pulling,sticking things underneath the skin, hitting,biting,carving
Things into skin.
People who have Borderline Personality Disorder struggle with regulating there own emotions. Things become intense and overwhelming and agonizing to bare and they resort to unhealthy ways to cope with these emotions they are feeling.
Most times when they hurt themselves it's out of impulsiveness and heightened senses.
Self injurious behaviors goes along with reckless behaviors.
We can also hurt ourselves when somebody we loved and cared for leaves us or to our eyes "Abandon" us or "reject" us making us far more vulnerable and prone to these behaviors and escalates these things.
Some may even use self harm as a way to gain control of a situation as a desperate attempt at keeping the other person from leaving us as a last resort to make them stay because we fear being alone or a word without that specific person.
Although some may do those things it's important to know that not everyone who struggles with this diagnosis does that.
