Asher couldn't resist visiting the Isle again the next day. It was Saturday, so he didn't have to worry about being late for school or finishing homework. The allure of the Isle and the secrets it held were too strong to ignore. He awoke at 7 a.m., the early morning light casting a soft glow through his dorm window. Quietly, he slipped on his slides, careful not to wake Reese, who was still sound asleep in his bed, snoring softly.
Asher moved through the castle with practiced stealth, the corridors empty and silent at this early hour. The anticipation of his journey made his heart pound with excitement and nervousness. When he finally reached the beach, the familiar sight of the rolling waves and the salty breeze brought a sense of calm over him. He looked around to make sure no one was watching and then hid his belongings in a nearby bush, a spot he had chosen for its seclusion.
The water was chilly, the cold seeping into his bones and sending a jolt of anxiousness through his veins. But it was also invigorating, a reminder of the adventure that lay ahead. With a deep breath, Asher dove into the sea, the world above disappearing as he was enveloped by the cool embrace of the water. The rhythmic movement of his strokes and the steady beat of his heart were all he focused on as he swam toward the Isle.
As he approached the forbidden shore, the underwater landscape changed, becoming darker and more rugged. The remnants of shipwrecks and the occasional glint of treasure hidden among the rocks added to the sense of mystery and danger. Asher's mind raced with possibilities and questions about the Isle's inhabitants and their secrets.
Breaking the surface near the Isle, he took a cautious look around. The Isle of the Lost appeared deserted, but he knew better than to assume he was alone. He swam closer, the shoreline coming into clearer view. The memories of the white-haired boy from the previous day flashed in his mind, making him both anxious and curious about what or who he might encounter today.
Asher pulled himself onto the shore, water dripping from his clothes as he surveyed the area. He felt a strange mix of excitement and fear. His mother's adventurous spirit surged within him, urging him to explore further. The secrets of the Isle were calling to him, and he couldn't ignore their pull. With a deep breath and a determined heart, Asher ventured deeper into the unknown, ready to uncover the mysteries that awaited him.
Once on the rocky edge of the barrier, Asher spotted the white-haired boy again. This time, the boy was cornered by two intimidating figures: one wielding a hook and the other with long blonde hair.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Carlos De Vil," the boy with the hook sneered, his accent strong, though Asher couldn't quite place it.
"Come on, guys, Mom just wants me to pick up some fabric for her," Carlos said, his voice edged with desperation.
"Nuh uh uh," the pirate interrupted, blocking Carlos's path with a menacing grin. "You wanna go through Ursula's territory, you need to pay the fee."
Carlos tried to push past, but the pirate wouldn't budge. "Come on, guys, just let me go through."
The pirate with the hook tightened his grip, holding Carlos down. "Those who don't pay the fee don't get to pass," he said, delivering a brutal punch to Carlos's face.
Asher had seen enough. Anger surged through him as he picked up a large rock and hurled it with all his might. The rock struck the pirate in the back, causing him to fall. The blonde-haired boy rushed to help his comrade up, giving Carlos a moment of reprieve.
Carlos looked around, his eyes locking onto Asher, who was still partially submerged in the water. Recognition and gratitude flashed in Carlos's eyes as he realized it was the boy who had come to his rescue. With the pirates momentarily distracted, Carlos seized the opportunity to dart past them, heading to retrieve the fabric he had been sent to get.
