As the lights flickered, I saw it. Waving at me. I don’t know if I could even call it a shadow or dark figure anymore because its head is the only thing that isn’t visible. I called for help, but no one answered. I immediately covered myself with a blanket, hoping the flickering lights would end soon.

I was under the blanket for what felt like an eternity when it finally stopped. Slowly, I removed the blanket covering my whole body and saw it again. The thing. It wasn't wearing any clothes. Its skin was an unnatural gray, covered in dark veins. As I was still processing this, it came charging at me. I jumped out of bed and ran out of the room, but then I noticed that the entire hospital was in chaos. More and more patients were dying due to some electrical problem.

I ran as far as I could and hid in the janitor’s closet. The air was thick with the smell of antiseptic and fear. I could hear people's cries and wails as more patients succumbed. I peeked through the gap in the door and saw the thing pass by me. I nearly screamed when I saw what it did to one of the patients—it decapitated her! Blood sprayed across the walls like a gruesome mural. Then it looked directly at the cabinet I was hiding in. Panic took over me, and I ran as fast as I could, seeing the chaos unfold around me.

Doctors were running down the hallway. The fluorescent lights flickered, casting eerie shadows on their frantic faces. I was a good distance away when I heard the most chilling scream I've ever heard. It was loud and filled with agony. The other nurses and I ran in the direction of the scream, and there she was—the girl from earlier, the one who had been decapitated. Several nurses couldn’t help but cry, and some even puked out of disgust.

There was a lot of chattering, mostly wondering who could have done this and what could have possibly pushed someone to do it. I went back to my room, feeling immense pain. Some of the stitches in my wound had opened, causing it to bleed more. My parents arrived, holding the food they had gotten for me, when they noticed the blood dripping from my back. I could feel the intensity of the situation increasing, and I was losing a lot of blood. Eventually, I passed out from the pain and blood loss.
