Day one: the start of it all. (Yeosang's perspective)
Have you ever felt like life was unfair? Like something was pulling you away from achieving what you needed or desired? That it was so unfair that you'd lock yourself in your room and cry for hours and hours? When asked, you'd simply say, "I'm fine, stop worrying about me." You'd often think that you're okay but when you finally see the light, you'd uncover the traumatizing truth behind the fact that you're not as okay as you may act.
Life is unpredictable. To every one one of us. You just have to pull through and work it out.
This is how Kang Yeosang feels. He feels like life was so unfair to him. First he lost his mom due to lupus, then his brother got into jail for robbing a bank, his little sister was struggling to fit into her new school, and he was stuck with his idiotic, drunkard of a father. Then finally, he lost his best friend of eight years, Choi San.
Let's back up to years back. 12 year old Yeosang just moved to a new home in a new city. He absolutely had no friends whatsoever as everyone found him weird and quirky. People also said he was different in a bad way because of his feminine looks and also his birth mark that settled on the left side of his face, a red blotch that formed something like a heart. He'd often wear make up to cover it up cause he felt uncomfortable.
Then came Choi San. San was a year younger than Yeosang but he acted like they were the same age. Didn't use any formalities, and would swear at him at times if he wanted to. That's what Yeosang liked. San wasn't treating him differently, he treated him like he was human, which he is. He stood up for him when times got rough when his mom passed away, and when his brother got arrested. Basically San was his support system.
As you'd expect, that became better. San later introduced Yeosang to all his other friends and brother. We have Seonghwa, the one they called the "mother" of the group and Hongjoong, the "father" of the group, Mingi and Yunho, the giants and Wooyoung, the baby girl and Jongho, the youngest of the group and also San's younger brother. Moreover, Yeosang was as happy as he had his life in control again.
Yeosang would come home to a drunk father. He'd get beaten often but would hide it from all his friends, including San. He did all that to protect his little sister, because she was the main target. Bit of course, He'd cover all that up with a simple brush of make up and act like everything is all okay. But somehow, the guys saw through all his "I'm okay act" because one day he forgot to apply make up on his neck, where his dad had almost strangled him. Seonghwa thought of approaching the situation but he was stopped by all the guys. They pretty much knew everything about Yeosang. Like how his brother got arrested for the bank rob in order to save their dying mother at the time, to how Yujin, Yeosang's sister was not doing great at school. They were surprised when they found out more things than they knew.
