Hong Joong was fifteen when his powers awakened. Sure, humans with powers were a very rare thing, especially in Korea. But he didn't think it was that big of a deal.
He could control water.
That was it.
Heat it up, freeze it, make shapes with it, you name it.
But that was about all he could do.
So he didn't know why he was outcasted so quickly.
Apparently, word traveled fast in his little community in Anyang because soon, the whole school knew that he was "Gifted".
That's how some people referred people with powers. Others called them cursed.
And once the whole school had found out, he was asked to leave. He didn't exactly remember the reason why. It had something to do with not wanting "dangerous people" in their community, especially since talk of superhumans had been in the news.
So Hong Joong and his parents packed up their things and moved to Seoul. He was upset that he had to leave his brother behind. But he didn't want to make the older switch schools.
So, with a promise to call him as often as possible, he started school in Seoul.
The new principal knew of the fifteen year old's situation and promised to keep it a secret.
So he wasn't sure how a few of his classmates were able to figure it out.
He felt that bullying was too intense of a word to use, but he was right back to being ostracized again.
That was until a new student came during his third year.
Objectively, the boy was handsome; some might even call him pretty.
"My name's Park Seong Hwa. I just moved here from Sacheon-si. It's nice to meet you."
His use of satoori was cute, too.
His homeroom teacher looked around. "...There should be an open spot by Hong Joong."
A few of his classmates snickered as Seong Hwa began to walk toward him. They weren't even trying to hide their comments from Hong Joong.
"Don't make him angry. He might drown you."
"Make sure he doesn't mess with your water."
"Be nice to the water boy."
Hong Joong couldn't help but frown as the boy became his new seatmate.
"Are you…You're Hong Joong?"
The ravenette nodded. "Yeah…and don't bother hiding your dialect. I think it's cute."

“Look at the water boy trying to make friends. Isn’t that cute?”
Hong Joong tried to quicken his pace, but his height didn’t do much to help him get away.
Whoever was trying to get his attention ended up grabbing the handle of his backpack, whipping him around.
Hong Joong scoffed. “What do you want, Jaesang?”
“Where’s your respect? Is that how you talk to an upperclassman?”
“You can't really call yourself an upperclassman if we're in the same grade. It doesn't matter that you're older than me. But for someone who doesn’t give me the time of day unless he’s here to annoy me? Yes, that is how I talk to him.” He tried to reach his hands back to free his bag.
