As the quietest of Lord Borros Baratheon's five daughters, Arianne knew to not ask questions. Even on her wedding day as the words bit at the end of her tongue desperate to be voiced, Arianne refrained from asking her new husband why he only had one eye.
Arianne heard rumours and whispers, many of which plagued her dreams or kept her awake, too frightened to slumber as if the monster that maimed the Prince would return to take his remaining eye.
However, it wasn't until he held their first child, a daughter with hair as dark as night, in his arms that Aemond told his wife of the savage attack that cost him half his sight but earned him his dragon.
And Arianne knew it that night, with the angry quiver of his lip as he spoke of Lucerys Velaryon, that he would be her undoing.

authors note. this originally started out as an oc x oc fic with one of the oc's being helaena's twin brother and the other aemond's wife but as much as i love the twin oc i just really want to write a tragic/angsty aemond fic.
