Aegon II Targaryen was a miserable old man who could barely walk, talk, or do anything not to mention he was all alone. He constantly pleaded for his family to come back. For his sister who he killed, for his other sister who jumped, for his nephews who fell into the sea, for his love who died trying to fight him. The night he died though everything changed. He didn't know it but his last-ditch effort to change everything worked as a god answered his call.

Aegon the second was all kinds of confused and disoriented when he woke up.

For one, he had longer hair.

For another, his mobility was better than it had been and it almost felt like when he was younger.

Third, it didn't hurt to move and he had no burns making up most of his body.

Fourth, his mother was yelling outside his door to get up because they had to go to the funeral of Laena Velaryon. Aegon stopped dead in his tracks.

He remembered exactly what had gone on at Driftmark in his past life. Aemond claimed Vhagar and never let anyone forget about it but he had also lost an eye after attacking Jace and Maegor. Aegon also remembered bitterly that this was the day his relationship with both Jace and Maegor became irreparable.

Aemond had claimed that Aegon had called them bastards when in fact it was his mother and his grandfather. But in trying to save them, he lied for them and lost the man he loved and his nephew in the same instance.

Aegon looked in the mirror as he brushed his hair and swore that he would not lose Maegor again. He would make a different choice in Driftmark tonight and try to change all of their fates.

Aegon had no idea why Shrykos had chosen to give him another chance but he was going to take it. He looked to the ceiling and sighed "what the fuck."

The day passed and Aegon spent most of it with his beloved Sunfyre pretty much ignoring everyone else as all of the people he wanted to talk to were in Driftmark currently.

Hours passed and the Hightowers along with Aegon made their way to Driftmark where Aegon immediately spotted his sister and her kids. Maegor looked at Aegon and smiled. Aegon nearly cried right then and there as he knew that Driftmark was the last time Maegor had smiled at him in any capacity.

Everyone watched as Laena Velaryon was dumped into the sea before heading to the balcony as the dragons flew up ahead. Aegon unlike the past life refused to drink knowing that he would need to be sober for this night.

Aegon stuck close to Maegor avoiding his siblings which highly confused the eldest son of Rhaenyra. Come to think of it Maegor had been highly confused since he had seen Aegon not grabbing something to drink.

Maegor sighed and allowed it to happen, they both leaned against the railing as they observed what the hell was going on more specifically Rhaenyra and Daemon. Maegor didn't mind Daemon as he knew that the Rogue Prince was the best shot for his mother to protect herself.

Maegor also remembered how fiercely Daemon had fought for all of them. Yeah, he had also woken up slowly getting memories back from the god Tyraxes. He didn't know what to do with them. He didn't have all of them yet but he had most of them. He had to hold back from attacking Aemond when he first saw him.

Tyraxes had made sure that Maegor remembered what happened on Driftmark and Maegor knew that he needed to stop Aemond from bonding with Vhagar or injure her but he had no idea how.

Rhaenyra walked over to Maegor and his siblings "go to bed." Maegor nodded but both Maegor and Aegon who were standing there knew where Rhaenyra was going and neither of the older boys could stop her.

All of the boys headed to bed, while Maegor was getting ready for bed, Aegon snuck into the room. Aegon had no earthly idea what he was going to say to Maegor now that they were alone. Maegor looked up and noticed his uncle "well uncle, are you going to kill me like you did before?"

Aegon did a double take "y-y-you remember."

"I do." Maegor sighed. "Or at least partially thanks to Tyraxes."

Aegon nodded stiffly "there is nothing that I can do to make up for what I did and how awful I was in our previous life but I want to try. If you'll allow me."

Maegor sighed then nodded "alright but this doesn't mean that I fully trust you."

"I'm well aware of that." Aegon nodded, upset that the gods might ruin his chance with Maegor before he even got a chance. "We need to stop Aemond from claiming Vhagar, he becomes a monster after that."

"Agreed," Maegor said, "why do you think I haven't slept yet?"

Aegon smirked before both headed out following Aemond who was heading to Vhagar. As the two headed outside they feared they were too late when they watched Vhagar take to the sky.

Aegon gulped knowing that his brother would become a monster if they didn't find a way to stop this. Maegor looked at Aegon "go inside and protect Baela and the others." Aegon nodded then stopped when Maegor grabbed his hand "if you want me to trust you promise me that you will protect them."

Aegon looked more serious than either of them had seen in their lives and nodded "I swear on my life and Sunfyre's that I will do whatever it takes to protect them." Maegor nodded and Aegon ran inside knowing the fight that was about to take place.

Aegon ran into the hall and snarled at the sight of Aemond attacking Baela, Jace, Rhaena, and Luke. He refused to let this happen again. At least he refused to let Luke be the one to take Aemond's eye.

Aemond started the general crap of how Luke and Jace along with Maegor were bastards. Aegon couldn't help but to laugh "You've screwed up Aemond."

Aemond looked at his brother confused "how?"

"You claimed a dragon on the night of its rider's funeral. You couldn't even wait bloody twelve hours. The disrespect." He saw the glint of the knife before Aemond did and refused to allow Jace or Luke to be the one in trouble for this plus if he played this right then he could protect them, gain the favor of his sister, and maybe Daemon, but also he might be able to get the one thing he wanted.

As Aemond held the rock over Jace's head, Aegon grabbed the knife from Luke and slashed Aemond taking out his eye. As they were dispersed he could only hope that Maegor had the time for whatever plan he was doing.
