DECEMBER 2023Yara moved through the line and continued making her plate loading it with everything. After talking to Siah, she regained her composure an hour later. Her feelings were still a little hurt but she felt a little better about the entire situation.
"Damn fat ass hurry up, I want some roast too nigga." Miles smacked his teeth while he watched Yara break the roast down.
"Do you ever eat at home? Like I'm so serious." Yara rolled her eyes and put some on both of their plates.
"Man put some more on this one for Zari. Girl been eating my pockets away, literally." He turned so Yara could see his other plate.
She broke off some more Roast and put it on Zari's plate. After grabbing her napkins, fork, and knife she made her way out of the line. Walking out the back door she seen everyone conversing and eating. Looking to her right she seen Siah sitting at the table with her grandparents. They were laughing and smiling while talking about something.
She made her way to the table and sat down next to Siah.
"Kafiya, this young man is hilarious." Jida, her grandmother, laughed while wiping her mouth.
"Oh really? What y'all over here laughing about?" Yara looked at Siah while he ate some of his food.
"I'll let you tell him himself, your Granpa didn't take his insulin today so we will be back out in a few. Nice to meet you again Josiah." Jida stood up while grabbing her and Jaddi's trash.
"Yeah nice to meet you son. Treat my babygirl right." Jaddi, Yara's grandfather, winked before walking away behind Jida.
"Nice to meetchall too and I'm tryin'." Siah smiled at them before grabbing his water bottle and opening it.
She grabbed her fork and began eating her macaroni and cheese. She felt Siah staring at her while she ate which caused her to turn her head.
"My bad for bending yo shirt up, you look good though." He leaned back in his chair while his eyes scanned her body.
"Yeah, I'm sorry for what I said too. I never meant to bring up your dead. I know that cut deep. Didn't intend for it to go that way." She looked back at him while he nodded.
"I know, it's good mama. You hurtin', can't be holding that shit in tryna play tough." Siah continued watching her.
"Nobody was trying to play tough. I just didn't know how shit would go when I got all that off my chest." Yara ate a few more bites of her macroni and cheese.
