Chapter 76 -- Crossfire-haywire --

The sunrise on Mon Calamari was almost as beautiful as the sunset, and as soon as you woke up you were all smiles. It was hard not to be high as a cloud with your new engagement ring, made from an old Kyber crystal on your finger, let alone spending your morning with your new fiance Tech.

The day flew by in a blur of excitement and fun, playing in the sand, sleeping in the shade, and gently spreading a healing salve over Wrecker who refused to wear a shirt and was badly sunburned. Hunter and Echo both heard back about their contacts and were able to get a list of supporters together, and before the evening had come a familiar ship had flown into the atmosphere and landed near yours. The island was a challenge to park on because of its small size but Rex managed to position his personal ship the Solleu close to yours.

Rex had come your way related to business, but he was almost as excited as Wrecker when he found out about your engagement. Rex's face broke out into a huge smile, and you could see the delight in his eyes.

Naturally he gave Tech a very manly congratulations, which Tech was oddly smug about. --no doubt from the previous rumors of you being married to Rex-- you chuckled to yourself before Rex came over to you. He had a huge grin as he gave you a congratulatory hug, but you could see a melancholy look behind his eyes.

"I know you two will do great" he told you, "I know you'd do anything for what you want, and so would Tech".

"Thank you Rex, I'll make sure your at the ceremony" you smile back and Rex gives you another hug accompanied by a chuckle.

After all the excitement it was time to turn your focus back to business. Apparently Rex had spoken with Veraxsis and the trade dealer had agreed to support Rex's cause after some convincing. Now you all say around the flickering fire, roasting marshmallows and drinking lemonade while discussing your next steps. You and Tech sat near each other, your fiances arm wrapped around your waist. Hunter stood, and Wrecker sat near Echo with Omega just in front nearest to the fire. Rex stood near Hunter, but addressed the whole group.

"I did what you recommended, laid it all out for him. It took some convincing but he decided to support our cause. With that said, he's given us a tip on some weapons dealing going down near Lothal on one of their trade stations. Veraxsis says that if we intercept them we can get a start on supplying weapons for our forces".

"We aren't thieves" Hunter said with a clear dislike in his voice. The firelight causing his skull tattoo to become much more defined against the shadows of his face.

"But they are" Rex clarified "These are guns stolen from the rebellion on Lothal. Its a localized terrorist group that was attacking their main city and disrupting trade. The guns and ammunition got acquired shortly after their arrest. We would simply be re-purposing them".

"Still sounds like stealing" Omega replied and you had to admit you agreed.

"Stealing aside, we need these weapons. We've checked all the moons around Dadrus in the Meerian Sector and will be moving our attention to Wayland in the Ojoster Sector. This is a prime opening, and if we can successfully pull this off we will be a large step closer to our goal."

"I believe the main argument you are presenting is that our involvement will be essential" Tech said and Rex nodded with a sigh "Yes."—he looks back to Hunter—" I know you are not sure about this, but you guys are the most organized and mobile group I have access to".

"I could use some action" Wrecker commented, as he pushed a smore together and handed it over to Omega.

"Veraxsis has given me all the details"—Rex looks to Tech—"we'd be in and out".
